WENK, will be a candidate for Kepresentative Delegate to tho Republi can State Convention. It 19 reported that Cleveland baa decided to visit St. Louia this fall. If he goes there during the meeting of O. A. R. he will probably be received by the soldiers just like Blaine re ceived Edmunds at the Grant funeral. MeadviUe Gazette. The presidency boom of William Tell Coleman, of California, has been placed on the retired list and will not come east this season. The Interstate law did the buisness for it, though we see no reason why it conld not have been sent by mail as fourth-class mat ter. THEEx-Confederate General Rosser, who flew into a rage over the report that Phil Sheridan contemplated a liorsebrck excursion through the Shen andoah Valley, declares now that he has been grossly misrepresented and misunderstood. It may be that this is a fact. We think that Rosser should sue his mouth for libel. President Cleveland begs that none of the newspapers will send re porters after him into the Sarauac country. Sir. Cleveland's tender cour tesy including bis witless talk about the "general lying," the "ghoulish glee," and other imaginative traits of the newspapers may in bis opinion entitle him to the favor he ag&s. It is just like him to think so. Speakixo of the flop of one Gener al Catlin of Brooklyn, N. Y., from the Republican to the Democratic party, of which some of our Demo cratic exchanges are making quite a fuss, the Christian Advocate, of May 26, sums op the matter in these terse words: "la the history of this country there have been times when the sol emn renunciation by a statesman of high character of one party for its permanent opponent made a deep moral impression. But taking the man, the career, the circumstances, and the reasons into the account, the somersault of an ex-District Attorney in Brooklyn checks the ordinary man ifestations of human sympathy; for nooe see any occasion to commiserate the bereaved or to congratulate the odttiusible gainer. The Democratic Lancaster Intelli gencer is pretty rough on that well known Democratic statesman and or ganizer, tho lion. Samuel Josephs. It says his appointment to the marshal ship would have discredited the Ad ministration, and that it was a moral impossibility for Mr. Cleveland to set his seal of approval opou Josephs. This is very queer talk after we had been told in some of the Democratic papers that Mr. Josephs had the strongest recommendations filed for any office since the inauguration of President Cleveland", embracing Su preme and Common Pleas judges, del egates to the National Convention and party leaders almost without number. Among there were such Democrats as Charles R. Buckalew and Ex-Congressman Specr. It will be difficult to make people believe that a Presi dent who keeps a Tan-Electric specu lator in the Cabinet is too good for Josephs. The New York San yesterday stoted with much emphasis that Grover Cleveland would not be a candidate for re-election. This is certainly great news. It comes, too, at a very awk ward time, just as the Democrats of Kentucky had fairly launched the President for another trip, and with the endorsement of Colonel Henry Watterson, who says that "the Presi dent stands with Mr. Carlisle, Mr. Morrison and other revenue reform ers," and that "he did all ho could to carry the Morrison bill in the last Congress, and will do all he can to se cure revenue reform in the next." Perhaps our esteemed New York con temporary has some information not accessible to the general public, but with the President solid with the South ern Free-traders it is not easy to see how the Democracy of the North is going to resist any demands which the South may make. It is possible the people of the South are not so warm ly fur Cleveland, but the politicians are for him. Die satisfies their Free trade notions, and has thereby secured the endorsement of the great Free trade Democracy of Kentucky, and he has giveu the Southern politicians an unexampled number of important of fices. Why shouldn't they demand the renominatioo of Cleveland, even if the whole party in the North should oppose him? Phlla. rress. Congressional Apportionment. Siiawkey, Chairman Republican Co. Com. Our Wealthy Men. Much has been said in newspapers cf men wno nave matie lurgo fortunes in comparatively a few years in various hus inass industries. Many of these articles are writton by correspondents of promi nent newspapers, and copied into others of lesser note. Correspondents generally are poldom men of business qualifications and wrongfully picture these men and their business as a thing of uceident j this is not the (use with those we have met. We find that where men have made large fortunes by their own business talent and Industry they chose with sagacity and forethought such businesses as would lead to success when handled with business judgment. No man has been brought be fore the public as an example of success, both in wealth and magnitude of his bus iness (outside of stock and railroad men) more prominently than Dr. U. O. Green of Woodbury, N. J. Ho is at the head of many largo business industries, and yet comparatively a young man. When the fact that August Flower, for dyspepsia and liver complaint and Boschee's German Syrup, for coughs and lung troubles, has grown to a wonderful salt in all parts of the world, it proves that it was not an ac cident or spontaneous strike at wealth. His medicines are recognized as valuable and established remedies and the business has grown gradually and permanently during the last eighteen years on account not alone of Dr. Green's abilities as a bus iness man or his "good luck," but on tho actual merits of the two preparations. IT. J. HOPKINS & CO. UTTERLY DI3C0TJ3ACED expresses tho feeling of many victims of rheumatism, nourali.u, sciatica uud ner vous or sick headache. Having tried numberless so-called remedies, and livsi ciana of all schools, without relief, tliero seems to be no hope. Many such have as a last resort tried Athlonhoros, ami to their surprise and joy have found that it was a $afe, cure and quick aire. A thlophoros is not an experiment; thousands have been curtd by its use and they testify as to its valuo. Shekomeko, Dutchess Co. N. Y. Aug. 20, '80 I took Athlophoros according to direc tions; it caused a ringing in my ear that was not pleasant, it operated on my hc:;rt causing a slower and fainter throb, ami constipated my bowels. When the lai-t dose was taken I did not think much of the medicine: the next day my lameness' was better, and continued getting loss until it left me. My lameness was in my back, shoulders nnd neck, and bad been for eight months. I was advised to try Athlopho ros by my neighbor, V'ni. Jmkson, who had taken a Lottie of it for a severe attack of lameness in his shoulder and arm. Ho said " it drove the lameness right out of nie; my head felt strong, and my heart almost stopped beating ; 1 thought I would die, but Iame out all right, and have not had any lameness since." Amon Briggs. Phelps, N. Y, August 13, 1S3G. I am a practicing physician ; I pre scribed Athlophoros in a case of inveterate rheumatism of the right shoulder and arm. This case had been of weeks standing yes months and resisted medicine carefully selected, also the use of electric treatment. One bottle removed all the trouble. The case remains well, now over a year since using the medicine. G. C. Pkichabd, M. D.
