The Assessors of this borough
have completed their work. The val
uation, exclusive of watches and mon
ey at interest, amounts to $104,000,
and the watches aud money, atsefaable
only for State purposes, amount to
something like $60,000.

ed on Hemlock creek, ou what
known as the Gilmore tract, Warrant
2824. Ahlshouse & Steinberg are tbe
parties putting down tbe well, and
they expect to push it down as
lively as possible. It is about 6
miles from this place. Quite likely
another well on tbe farm of Adam

K. B. Brown, the veteran editor,
is now running the Mettenger-Demo-crat
of Meadville, which insures the
Democrats of Crawford county as
good an organ as it is possible for a
Democratic paper to be. Mr. Brown
has our best wishes for financial1 suc
cess. On Christmas Eve the M. E.Sab
bath school will render a beautiful
cantata at the Court House, and on
New Years Eve the Presbyterian Sab
bath school will have a tree in the
church. Both events are looked for
ward to with great pleasure and ex
pectation by the young people.

departure of Mr. Caipenter from this
placo the Warren Mail makes the fol
