IIakmonizing tbo Democratic par
ty at this time seems to depend upon
tbe ability ot the Watterson-Morri
sou wiotr to kick Randall and his
jjmall following out of the party.
It is a significant fact that Chair
raaa Cooper, the hopeful Republican
campaigner of this State, has pro
nounced fur tbe nomination of Blaine,
lie says : "liiame can best succeed
against the accidents that are incident
io every canvass, because be is the one
of all that are named who can best
be elected without New York." With
out that State, be counts 203 electotal
votes as sure for Blaine. He leaves
New Jersey out of his count, but
believes that in a tariff battle Blaine
is certain also of that State. Tbo
electoral vote this year is 401, making
201 a majority.
