' ' Governor Patlison Tuesdav sent in to both houses of the Legislature t .long-winded message vetoing the con current resolution directing the appro priation committee to report pay for ' members only up to the tenth inst This fact of itself had no significance except as showing the insincerity cf democrats in the Legislature in voting to cut off th'r pay. The resolution originally passed the Senate without any negative votes although two or three democrats refrained from voting at all. When the motion was made to pass it over the veto of the Execu tive, every democrat in the Senate voted against it. In the House where the resolution was concurred in with but slight opposition, no attempt whatever was made to pass it over the Governors veto. But the Cover nor s message is not confined to a def inition of what he considers the con . stitutional objections to the resolution which gave rise to it. He takes cc casion to justify himself for calling the useless extra session, and also at tempts the justification of bis party for its continuation. Nor is this al The Republican Senators are censured for the course they have taken, and it is broadly hinted that an attempt wil be made to compel them to agree to Huch apportionment bills as shall be satisfactory to the democratic leaders The Governor also plainly hints that unlisa the apportionment bills are nuttiiAfl Iia ui ill OAt A ( It a a n r m nri a r in n jsuvv,u 'W VV 111 VIW frUtl Hll Vl IdhlUII bill. This threat, however, is of little consequence, as everybody is wel aware that the Governor's party fol lowers would be the last to vote to sustain him in cuch a veto. Now that the Governor has indicated his poli cy, the people will be anxious to see how he is going to carry it out. He insinuates that it is going to be done by prolonging the extra session indefi nitely. This is of interest to the peo pie becausa hia vtto, if it meaus any thing at all, indicates that the legUla tor shall cuch receive ten dollars for every day the ession lasts. One two thiugs the Governor will find it necessary now to do ; He must either J. B. WENK, - abandon his determination to continue the extra session until apportionment bills are passed, or induce his party in the House tocome to the position of the republican Senators. The rep resentatives of 450,000 voters are not to be dictated to by the representa tives of 355,000 voters because they are accidentally in power, nr are they accountable to Governor Patti- son or his party for the course they have taken.
