One of tho largest and moat popular
business houses is that of Messrs. Vm.
Smearbaugh it Co. This firm deal in a
general line of dry roods, groceries,
quoenswaro, hardware, tobacco, cigars
etc., and handle nothing but first-class
goods. Their reputation for fait dealing
extends throughout Forest county and
their trado Is a large and growing one.
O. W. BOVARD.
Mr. O. W. Bovard is an extensive
dealer in groceries, provisions and drugs,
bis stock in this Hue beiug very carefully
selected. He makes a speciality of tobacco
and cigars and has by far the most exten
sive assortment in town. His large trade
is tho result of fair dealing and reasonable
prices.
LAWRENCE nOCBE,
Tionesta is well supplied with excellent
hotels but there is none more popular
than the Lawrence House, under tho
management of Mr. Wm. Smearbaugh.
It is 'arge and roomy and the appoint
ments are first-class. Commercial men as
a rule make it a point to pattonize Mr.
Smearbaugh.
. II. HASLET A RONS.
One of the oldest and best known firms
in Tionesta is that of S. II. Haslet t Sons,
general merchants. This firm has been
established over thirty years in business
in Tionesta, and has u wide connection
throughout the surrounding country.
Their stock comprises everything that is
ordinairly found in a general country
store and is large and complete.
EO. HEIBEL A CO.
Tho above named firm is the principal
one in Tionesta in the fetove and tinware
business. A largo stock of the leading
cook and heating stoves aro kept in stock
and the manufacture ot tinware and sheet
iron ware of every description is exten
sively carried on. Their work, at reason
able prices Is guaranteed to give satisfac
tion. JOHN RECK.
Mr. John Reck combines the business
of Associate Judge, boots and shoes and a
meat market, and is a frentletrfan widelv
known throughout the county. He is a
large real estate owner and possesses one
ot the handsomest residences in the town.
His reputation for fair dealing has estab
lished a large business.
HOLEMAN A HOFEINS.
This firm is one of the most extensive
in general goods between Oil,, City and
Warren. The stock carried is verv larue
and a heavy amount of capital is invested
in me Dusiness. The farm have a large
connection with lumbermen.. A branch
store will shortly be opened at Tidioute.
M. CARPENTER.
During the bright spriiiK davs the nho-
tograph gallery of M. Carpenter is being
very liberally patronized. Pictures are
taken in all the latest styles and at very
reasonable prices. Mr. Carnenter has had
a largo experience in his art and guaran
tees the best of satisfaction.
CENTRAL HOTEL.
But very few lumbermen visit Tionesta
without calling on T. C. Jackson, proprie
tor of the Central Hotel. Mr. Jackson
was for many years engaged in the lumber
business and has a large circle of friends
among his class. His hotel, with Charley
Congdon as clerk, is a pleasant place to
stop at and is very carefully kept.
