Last Thursday morning tho special train pulled out from the station with between sixty and seventy excursion ists from this place and vicinity. The train contained throe coaches when it left hero and added seven more when it arrived iu Oil City, making ten in all. By the time it reached Titusvillo all the cars contaiued more or less passengers, and when Biocton, the terminus ot tne r. l. & li. it y, was reached every coach was filled to its lull seating cfpacity, althoUKh not uu comfortably so. This was the last station at which any passengers were taken on, and up to this time the train made good time, arriving there but five or ten miuntes behind time. But from there on the train was at the mercy of the Lake Shore Road which batiied it along from one station to another until it reached Niagara nearly two hours late, very much to the annoyance of the passengers and the utter disgust of the gentlemen in charge of the excursion. Upon the arrival of the train at Niagara car riages were in waiting, and in less than five minutes all were enjoying the many wonders and beauties of that noted place. Notwithstanding the train was late the party had over five hours for sight-seeing which was ample lime to get around to all the different points and eeo everything worth look ing at. The falls by Electrio light was a new and grand sight to many and thoroughly enjoyed by all. At ten o'clock the train left Niagara, and was again baffled along by the neglect and carelessness of the Lake Shore Road until it reached Brocton, where it struck the P. T. & B. track again.and from there sailed through without a minutes' unnecessary delay, arrivi here at seven o'clock Friday morning. or about the same time it left tho morning before. lo say that everybody was highly pleased with the trip barring the delaj occasioned by the Lake Shore road, which was no fault of the mana gers of the excursion would be draw ing it very mild. The verdict of everv excursionist was that they never ha a pieasauter time, ine train was in charge of that prince of conductors Tom Evans, and Gcn'l Pass. AgeBt Baldwin joined the party at Oil City These gentlemen took especial pains to see that every comfort attended the passengers, and that all were provided with the ueeessary information. Mr Baldwin is well known in Niagara and the mere mention of his name was sufficient to insure one many courte sies, wuicn on ordinary occasions would be withheld by those iu charge of the different places of interest. The excursion, we are pleased to state, was a financial success to the P. T. & B. Co., who did all they ad vertiaed, and gave entire satisfaction to all from this section, aud the occasion will long be remembered by our peo ple as one of the pleasantest and most profitable of their lives. Mr. Craig at this station sold over sixty . tickets which wan well done for Tionesta. Wheu the managers of the P. T. & B. R'y conclude to give another excur sion they can count on a good turnout from heic. Ttepublican Primaries Offi cial licturns. AMmtily A a' ? s if MST1UCTS. - C 5 o F r- . c : 2 J?. The Republican Convention of Forest county met at the Court House, in Tionesta, yesterday at 2 o'clock, aud was called to order by Chairman Davis, who after a few appropriate remarks, withdrew and left the Return Judges to effect a pcrminent organiz ation. This was done by the election of Mr. B. D. McClure, of Howe twp., as President, and Mr. P. M. Clark, of Tionesta boro., Secretary. The first business in order was the canvassing oi the vote, whicn was done, tho precincts being called iu alphabetical order. The committee was called to order by temporary Chairman McClure, The election of a Chairman was the first in order. Mr. Quintain Jamieson was the choice of the Convention, and on second ballot received nearly the unanimous vote. Iu the matter of se lecting Congressional and Judicial Conferees it was agreed to allow the nominees to select their own conferees. We are unable to give the names of the committee at present owinjr to some of the districts having neglected to elect them. The Chairman was in structed to fill these vacancies by ap pointment : when thU is done we will give the names. The election of Mr Jamieson as Chairman gives entire satisfaction to all parties, and we have every confidence that he will discharge the duties devolving upon him with honor and fidelity, and conduct the carapaiguina manner highly satis factory to the party. At the close of the meeting Geu. Harry White was introduced, and after thanking the Republicans of Forest county for the honor confered upon him, made a few remark upon the approaching campaign, ex pressing confidence in the ability cf the Republican party to carry the day in November. The convention then adjourned after a most harmonious meeting. Ice Cream at the Forest Jouse, on Tuesday and Saturday evenings, and every day and evening during Camp Meeting. 4t.
