The hunt we spoke of lastt week came oft on Saturday, and was .a de cided success. The day dawned beau tifully and remained pleasant through- out, and as soon as it was light enough the cannonading commenced and oon- tinued till dewey eve. All the hunters were in at or before eight o'clock in the evening, well loaded with game of all descriptions. It was hardly neces to count the game in order to ascer- tniu which !ide was victorious, as that was evident from th" s.zh of the bugs a 8 i hey cainti iu. The Southern scourge is not abating iQ the lea3t ; in fact it is growing more terrible each day, and the condition of the sufferers beggars all description, While the country is responding nobly to the calls for aid, both in money and help, yet in some parts it is impossi- ble to get help enough to bury the dead. It is said the disease will not abate until a frost or cold weather sets in, which may be a month yet. In this place Mr. J. T.
