LOXPUCCK, lliCIII.AND Co., Wl8, March.2!, 1975. J Ed. RnruisLiCAN : : Siuce my last let- ter tlie weather has become somewhat moderate ; the snow is leaving slowly. This spring comes slowly,' indeed, ibr Us here, as wo generally commence farming in March, but this season no wheat will be sown befor tli inTidle of April.' There is not "uitlch wiuter grain raised in this country. Spring wheat of different varieties does well here on tbo prairies, but further north among the"oak openings" wiuter wheat is raised successfully some crops yield forty bushels pur acre. In the coun ty south of this niiuing is carried on extensively, in the Lead Mines of Wis consin; thousands of men nro em ployed; nnd also a new discovery in the mining districts has become prof itable in the article of Mineral Paint. Ad extra article of paint cau now be furnished at the small cost of Cve dol lars per barrel of any desired color, after being put through a chemical process ; it is almost entirely used here in painting public buildings, churches, echooT houses, etc. We are once more in trouble on ac count of "Lol the poor Indian." About two years ago the Government transferred the Chippewa, Mauoma nces and Wiunabagoca to tho reserva tion in Nebraska, but they aro com ing back to this State again, aud with out the consent of the agents. I have wished that those of our Eastern m mat nave so mucn to say ot tho "poor Indian were obliged to live with those same poor Indians a short time, uud less would be said in their" behalf. This poor.' degraded son of the forest has more privilege than the whites. uur game laws ao not promoit ine red man, but the white man has to - . 1 1 a 1 ! . .1 Come to time. I think the Indian is a natural born thief, is the laziest human beiug in existence; and as to begging, he prides himself on this point. , ' The inhabitants hero are from all parts of the world. . The Norwegians and Welch are our best 'naturalized . citizens. During tho late war they were among the first to enlist; castinjj thoir influence always with the right, , are all strong Republicans iu priuci pie.. They are just the class offer eigners .to go West, as for farming qualifications they are second to none. Mrisconsiu has some of best pinery's in the United Stales; aud the Chippe va, Black, and Wisconsin rivers fur nitli more pine lumber than any other in the Western States. Tho Wiscou- ' sin river is about as largo as the Alio gheny, except in depth ; and for the benefit of your lumbermen I would say that the channel chauges every few hours, as the sand keeps moving all the while. More auon. ' N. B. IIood. P. W. Mitchell, Esq., of Prank lin is put forward by his frieuds as t candidate for the Republican nomii.a tion for State Treasurer. Mr. Mitch ell is a representative man of tho Oil litigious, aud i, in all rospects, fully qualified for the position. That he enjoys the confidence of his party at home is fully attested by the fait that ho was tho choice of tho Republicans of Venango for Congress last summer; and had ho been tlio choice of tho dis trict Dr. Egbert would not now be the Congressman from that district. We are in hopes Mr, Mitchell will receive tho nomination, and will warraut his election to follow. Notice.
