Johnny was a bright littlo boy, just at the age when children are most in teresting, and he will be sadly missed by all who were in the habit of seeing and enjoyiug his childish mirth. His parents have the sympathy of all, in this great grief which has overtaken them. The funeral will take place to morrow (Wednesday) afternoon 3 o'closk.- PAUP April 24th, 1R72, Grlflln, youniwt win of Mrs. Klixa Paup, aged nearly sev en years. SIOtllNS At tlierenldonceor her brother A.J. SlKInn, Kwi., on the morning of April 17tli, 12, Miwi Flnrnnrn Virginia Hitcginx, agod 'M years, 0 months ami 4 days. The deceased was the daughter of William and Jane Siggins, both of honored and precious memory, aud be side whom she now sleeps in the fami ly burying-ground. Florence was a true, kind and brave girl. She delight ed i,i making herself useful to others and her presence was esteemed a bless ing and a joy iu every circle in w hich she moved. Truly, can I write, none know her but to love, none named her but to praise. Educated to honor the Word of God, and dedicated to God iu infancy, iu the Ordinence of bap tism by Christian patents, always cor rect iu her moral deportment, she con fessed Jesus and left 1'im to be her Savior and meekly said "aH is well." It cheers our heart to think that she left a strong testimony that she has gone to ho with Christ which Paul said was "far better." A victim of that most treacherous disease, con sumptiun, she did not think that death was so near at hand until a short time before her departure. Our eyes are dimmed with tears as yo yew this wreck of beauty, excellency, and of bright promise, and may kind heaven givo the stricken ones grace to bow eubmissively l this mysterious disten tion of His Wise Providence. Hex earthly record was as costly ointment poured forth, and while the casket of liersweet spirit was being spoiled and vexed with disease, Florence djd not murmur. Doubtless, ''dear Florence" is now dwelling in a purer clime, and singing in a heavenly choir. "Thus Ktar by Btar declines, Till all are panned away, A morn high and higher nhines, To pure and perfect day ; Nor Mink those stum in empty night, They hiilo themiclvca iu heaven's own llKlit," J. Wc-notice a sprinkling of straw hats and linen coats on our streets within the past few days. This with other symptoms, indicates spring. We policed a few fine strings of trout coming into town during last week, and we believe they will be plenty during thp season. Wm. The side-walks about town stand in need of repairs, and should be at tended to at once. There are a num ber of places where a person could break a leg very easily, and then, there would bo a question of damages. There is not much law necessary in thoao cases ; it is only needed to prove the existence of the hurt, and that of the, hole where the mischief was done. T-rGardening has been commenced in earnest, and every available place for 'Garden Sass" is being plowed or spaded up, and we may soon expect to. see on our tables the first fruits in, the shaje pf lettuce, onions &c. ts gopd exercise, raising vegetables, where a person cannot play base ball, or swing Indian clubs. Baso ball is again attracting the attention of our young athletes, and pyery evening (Sunday excepted) they may be seen, deployed iu the usual manner, pitching, catching, baiting, running &c., as though they were paid according to the amount of muscle ex pended. We expect to see several exciting games here during the sum mer. Drowned. On Wednesday last, April 17tb, A. Lincoln, aged seven years, son of Hon. John l'atton, of Curwensville, was drowned in the riv er, at that place, under the following circumstances: He and several other small boys had gone to the river and were playing and running around over some logs which were lying imme diately at the mouth of Anderson creek when young Patron, Jost his balancp and fell into the water, and was carried out into the stream, where he sank to rise no more. The alarm was at once given, and search institut ed fur tho recovery of the body, which proved unavailing until Saturday, when it was found about one mile be low where the accident occurred. His remains were interred in the Cem etery, near Curwensville, on Sun day last, whither they were followed by an unusually large concourse of fieople. X he entire community deep y sympathise with the aillicted parents and family in their sad and unexpect ed bereavement. Clearfield Journal, Mrs. Patton was in this place, visit ing at M. W.
