the Warren Ledger:
The Fir.t National Bank Building
not yet finished, is in a critical con
dition. It has a leaning toward the
Post Office building, and many enter
tain the fear that it may fall. The
outer wall is now supported by the
I' 'St Office building and ii is believed
it may fall and crush it. The quetio:i
was being discussed on Tuesday by

On Saturday evening last, at about
right o'clock, the dwelling house of
Mr. Uri Fluent, a lumberman in Kin
ti.u township took fire and was wholly
consumed, together with all the cloth
ing exeept what was at the time beini

from u stove pipe. Mr. Fluent's loss

The East Brady Independent v a
an account of a daring robbery which
was perpetrated in that borough 011
Saturday night On the evening in
question, an unknown ma:i stopped at
the hotel of John Yost, 011 Broad street,
for the purpose of staying all night.
He must have been a happily constitut

Day before yesterday, the foreman
of one of the gangs nt" hands at work

was struck with a pick axe by one of
the men. The man claimed the blnw

this happened on the Boyd Farm.
Mr, S. Arnold, better known ak
"Teach" Arnol 1, for several years the
proprietor of the Railroad II use, Pio
neer, died at that place night before
last, alter a long and painful illness.

out the oil region as a genial whole
sou led man in every respect. His
death will be sincerely mourned by a
large circle of friends and acquaint
ances. The remains were taken tn
Titusville, to day, fir interment.
Man Kii.I.kd. On Friday evening
last as the Oil Creek train wascomiug
11, Mr. New toti Millard attempted to
jump ub..nrd at the First Avenue
crossing. Missing his hold he fell
with his legs under the cars and was
run over crushing ou leg nearly up
tn the thigh and breaking and bruis
ing the other in the most fearful man
lier. The doctors amr utated them as
speedily as possible but his injuriis
vere fatal and he died about ten
o'clock in the evening. Mr. Millard
was in the tniplm of the Corry Man
ufacturing and Lumber Company, and
his friends live iu Tituville. We trust
others will take warning, and avoid
the dangerous practice of jumping 011

"In this city yesterday, contracts, for
some lime under discussion, were exe
cuted by the New York Central, Lake
Shore and Duuk.rk and Warren Kail
road 011 the one part, and the Alleghe
ny Railroad 01. the other part, for
freight and passenger traffic between
New York and Pittsburgh, und vice
term. The junction where this traffic
will ho interchanged is ut Irviugton,
where the Oil Creek and Alleuhenv
River and Philadelphia and Erie meet.
It is said thut the Yanderbilt interest
has guaranteed not to build any paral
lel or rival road into the oil region.
