no doubt conveyed a superlative degree
of ecstacy to cultivated ears; and we
must confess that there were remarka
bly few discords in the piece to what
we expected from a real live proces
sor. Mr. Candidas, radiant in white kids
and pidgeon tailed coat, next sang to
us, which performrnce we appreciated
principally because every note the ac
complished tonor produced, brought us
nearer to Ole Bull's appearance.
Then came tbe loin, or rather we
should say tbe Bull of the evening,
with bis violin, lie b. wed, and we
felt as though reverence were being
done us by one of the kings of the
earth; we were subdued. He smiled;
and such a heavenly smile. It seem

These warm sunBhincy days start
the coons out, and we notice several
parties starting after the coons. Coons
luuke a good pot-pie after they are
cooked, "and don't stuell so bad eith
er." We see screrol notices stuck up
about town, advertising property of
some of our most substantial citizens
for sale, on account of the non-payment
of poor tax. We shouldn't be
surprised if several suits grew out of
the matter.
The snow is disappearing rapidly
under the ray of tho sun, which have
been pourinjj d.wn t'icir hottest ever
since the foro part of last week. If
the weather don't change soon, we
'shall soon have no ice bridge here, and
then will there be more agitation about
a permanent one.
The public appreciating our lib
eral inducements for casli purchases is
tho reasou we have such crowds and
sell sii'di piles of goods every Saturday.

V. D. Fassett, E.q.. formerly of
the law firm of Clark & Fassctt.whose
card has appeared in our paper for
some time past, has gone into partner-
hip with J. R. Harris Eq., of Titus
ville. Mr. Fasiett is a young man
whose talonls as a lawyer we have
string. He played ; and yet we live.
He plnycd and Oh! that we bad the
pen (or rather the bruin ; we suppose
we could write just as well with any
other pen) of Byron, Moore, or some
other talented cuss, to desribe his play
ing. His transitions from the lowest
to the highest keys of the instrument,
were wonderful ; the oi.e reminding us
of the rushing of mighty waters, and
the other of the liquid flow of oil
through the Tithole Pipe Lino. A
violent scrape of his bow on a low
string reminded one of the bowling of
a rauinc demon. Then one nf his
sweet smooth touches on high Q, re
sembled the whisperings of an angel
who loves mankind. The audience
were wild with enthusiasm, and when
be struck on the "A rkansaw Traveler,"
tho house was nearer coming down
than when the Roberts Building fell.
Altogether, as a friend of ours once re
marked, "tbe music was heavenly, and
we never expect to hear the like
again." Long may Ole Bull live, and
may his hands uever lose their cunning,
nor his ears their nice discriiuiuatioii,
while he docs live. And that, smile!
Although "a man may smile, and
siniic, and be a villiau stilt," we don't
believe any villian could ever smile as
he smiled. If ever our face were to
he paralyzed we would like to have
Ole Bull's smile on when the- opera
lion is performed. May he uever lose
that smile.
Miss Gertrude Orme ssng two Eng
lish ballads which were appreciated
by the audience. And just here we
wish to ask, why is it that fine rausi
cians will presist in singing Italian,
French, or German to audiences where
perhaps not one in every hundred pres
ent understand what they are singing
about? The beauty of vocal music
does not consist entirely in the mu
sic, but in order to appreciatt we must
know what they are trying to get at.
The party arrived at home on Sat
urday afternoon, and we believe that
the individual who said the concert was
"Bully," expressed the sentiments of
the entire Tionesta delegation
