Judge Mestrazsat, of Fayette county,
la-.t week rendered a decision or far reach
in,; elfjit, in case it is sustained by the

custom in Fayette county, as it has been
in Somerset county, luring tho past fif
teen or more years, U advertise all the

Miss Sarah Dean died at the home of
her brother Mr. H. I Dean in Peters
burg, Pa., on Wednesday, April 2 lti7.
Her s was a life of self-sacrihee and self
deiiiaL At an early age she assumed
control of the houshohl of her brother,
and the care of his motherless children.
How well she performed this service is
known of all men. She was more than a
mother to them: nursed them in their in
fancy, caret for them in later years, and
when tho eldest iu the early springtime
of her life "sought her chamber to lie
down and die" Miss Dean was her sup
port and her comforter, and it was sue
who closed the eyes of her lieloved niece
when the death damp gathered heav
ily upon them aud her "breath came
feebly on."
Later her mother, w ho was an invalid
for years, was nursed and cared for by
her until she too closed her eyes in that
dreamless sleep from which no oue
awakens.
All these cares and charges made sad
inroads on a constitution none too strong
and Miss Dean's health began to fail.
She suffered several attacks of grip, but
was on a fair way or reco very w hen the
adverse verdict in the case of Dr. M itch
ell her hrolhcr-iii-law prostrated her
and she gradually failed, each day be
coming weaker uulil the end came.
She was a sweet tempered woman, a
christian in the fullast sense with a char
ity that embraced tho w hole world. Sho
had been a member or the M. E. church
from eu ly ehil. Hi. Kd and in her quiet,
unostentatious manner followed iu tin.
footsteps or the "lonely Xazarino" dur
ing the whole of her life. Plain in man
ner, plain in dress, she took no pride iu
anything save iier brothers and sisters
and their childreu and friends. She
walked in that narrow path that leads to
immortality with a conscientious under
standing of its requirements and its To
wards, and she sweetly breathed out her
ssitlis life in the alisolute assurance
that a crown or righteousness was laid up
for her, and not lor her alone lut 'or "ail
thoe who love His appearing."
Hosts of friends mourn their loss, but
"for her to live was Christ, to die was
gain," ami, the inestimable gain to her
no one can denv; and this lieautiful
spring morning, if1, iu the Divine econo
my sho should to allowed to know the
void in aching hearts she doubtless won
ders why they mourn.
She leaves live brothers and two sis
ters, one of whom is Dr. Mitchell's wife.
She, too. was stricken sorely whon the
news of the tin. ling of the jury reached
her. and is only keeping up on account of
her family and friends.
It seems meet that in this glad spring
time when all nature is rejoicing with
gladness when tho joyous song of the
birds are heard on every band, and I -autism
s (lowers are bursting forth the har

A New Question Raised ia Contested Elec
tion Case.
This week Judge L ingenecker will fi
the time for hearing the contest over tho
election of Justice of the Peace in Napier
towuship.
The petition is a queer paper. Among
other reasons assigned fir setting asido
the majority gi.-en R ibortC. Smith is the
r.illowing: "That the constable and
other persons were guilty of talking and
eating apples without any authority or
warrant of law." This is a uew reason iu
election cases. It will likely prove a
puzzle to the Court. The petition does
not state whether the apples were Pip
pins, Ratuboes, or KwalU, nor does it state
whether the apples were anitred before
they were eaten. Bedford Iuaoircr.
Close Figuring.
Kuabled Snyder's Art Store to lay in a
stock of China, Glass aud Queensware,
Pictures, Picture Moldings, Wall Paper
aud Mirrors which are now being offered
at prices hitherto unheard of. And they
are not selling below cost either. They
make a profit albeit a small one on
every article. The "Close Figuring"
does the rest at
Snyder's Art Stoke.
"Going Into a decline." How often do
we bear this expression, What does it
mean? It means that people are losing
flesh, growing thin, watching.
The way to correct this condition is to
improve the digestion. The condition
arises from an inability to eat and digest
food. In fact food does more harm tbau
J good because it ferments and putrefies in
the stomach, developing poisonous disor
ders.
What is required is that the stomach be
made to perform its duties. The Shaker
Digestive Cordial is a food already di
gested and a digester of foods as well. It
will make the stomach healthy. Got a
book from the druggist and read about it,
A California chemist has robbed Castor
Oil of its bad taste. Laxol is its name.
