At th age of 26 be was married to Lydia Hugus of Somerset. They were the parent of x sons and one danghter. Hi wife, four sons and daughter still survive bim. At tbe age of 30 be registered as a student at law under Hon. Moses Hampton, of Som erset, where be was admitted to tbe practice of lav on January 31st 138. He continued in active practice from the time of his admias kin until within the past ten years. During thi time be was in partnership with Chauncey Forward, Joshua F. Cox, Rom Forward and Cyrus Meyers, aH well known attorneys at tbe bar. He was eminently a coonsellor at law, bis opinion being sought by his associates in tbe profession, and bis argu merit to the Court being both comprehensive and Con vincing. He was a member of the Presbyterian church for many years, connecting himself with that organization in this place in tbe year 1S3J.
