j The Week In Congress.
WAaHiaiiTos, Aug. 17. The programme
of the business for the rest of the session
will be determined in open senate this week
if the present understanding ia carried out.
Mr. Quay, according to a notice given on
Saturday, will Introduce his amended reso
lution to-morrow which, under the rules, it
is expected will ro over until Tnesitay for
action. It will not be referred to the com
mittee on rules, but will be disposed of in
the senate. This course is desired by its
author and when it ia called up a motion
will be made, probably by Mr. Hoar or Mr.
Spooner, to include the fetierai election bill
in the list of bills that shall be considered
alter tbe tariif bill is disposed of. This is
expected to precipitate debate of some length
and considerable bitterness between the
winj of the Republican majority. Mr. tuay
and Mr. Aldrich. who ia acting with him.
belkve the resolution will pass by a good
majority with no amendment. When that
matter is settled the tariff bill will be taken
up and premed to a vote as rapidly as possi
ble. The urgent deficiency bill reported last
week will be called up to-morrow by Mr.
Allison and will be disposed of if possible at
one sitting. The bills to aid agricultural
coliees and the compound lard and meat
inspection bills may also be called up.
When these measures are dispjeed of it is
possible that the Labor committee may have
a day if the election committee do not insist
on pressing the pending contested election
cases.

Russian Wedding.
A stunning and decidtsiiy sensational wed

day. Marc Pogorezky led his biushing bride
to the altar. While the Russian priest, or
pope, as he is called, was preparing to per
form the ceremony Marc went out to get a
drink, saying that he would return in a few
moments. In his absent, however, a hand
some young stranger approached the bride
and offered himself as a substitute. She im
mediately accepted him, and the pope never
noticed the change. The ceremony was per
formed. Just then Mare reapsared. refresh
ed and ready for matri mony. But when he
found out what had happened he priceeded
at oo.te (u paint the church red. He thrash
ed the bridegroom, slapped the bride, knock
ed down the father in-law, punched the pope
and Kicked the mother-in-law. He wis ar
rested . but aa the case involves a question
of ecclesiastical law, it was referred to the
Czar, the head of the church.
