A Day M"Im I'aderatand 'Em.
The other morning a boy about
14 years of age knocked at the door
of a house on Uru-di street and a-ked
the woman if she didn't want the
enow cleaned off the walk. 1
"How much? he cautiously in
quired. "Thirty cent."
I won't pay it If yon want to
do the work for 10 cents you caa go
ahid."
He leaned on the handle of his
enow shovel and looked thoughtful,
and she finally queried;
"Well, what do you say f"
"It s just a that woman around
the corner told me," be replied. "I
shoveled off her snow and she pave
ne .V) cents. I told Ler I was com
ing to ask you, and she waid "
-I don't know her. What busi
ness is it to her."
Yes, but"
"What did she say ?"
-She said I'd get left. She said
that any woman who wore a plush
sarque and passed it ofl for a three
hud red-dollar aealskia would be
aneaw enough to go out nights and
hovl her own suow."
"Boy," whispered the woaiai as
she turned white clear around her
neck. "I wut you to clean off the
snow. When u are through I'll
give you a silver ?ir, and 1 want
