It may not, jierhaps, lie known that a man wearing dark, clothes is more liable to infection from contagious diseases than lie who wears light-colored garments, because particles which emanate from diseases or decaying bodies are much more readily ab sorbed by dark than by light fabric. One day last week, Ucv. J. A. Rccbt-r, while drawin;; water from the well nt the rcsidcacc of J. E. IKiwncs, of this place, brought up a live subterranean fish. It was between four and five inches lone;, of a light jiink color, and without eyes or scalcx. Its mouth resembled that of a sucker, and it had the regulation fish smell. The stream of the. well in question is very strong, and the 8ui'poitin is that it was carried away from its home in some subterranean lake or pool by the force of the current. Notwith standing it was eyeless, its aversion to the light, or the' npjier air was marked. Mr. Uecbcr placed the specimen in alcohol for preservation. Eyeless fish are common in many of the large caves of the country, and are numerous in the celebrated Mammoth Cave in Kentucky.
