Oil Tuesilay afternoon of lat week twelve
(icrsons (attaches of Boyd it Peters' circus),
were brought from Grecnsbiirg by Sheriff
Kyle, and committed to jail here, charged
with being concerned in the abduction and
attempted rape of Mis Saloam Burket, of
Stonycreek township. The names given by
the men are as follows: I). G. Melville. M.
I. Morton, James Parson, Jeff. Baker, Dick
Burton, Scott Ferguson, William Wilson,
Jesse Burton, John Maynanl, Philip Rover,
Frank IVniiimau and James Harrington.
They .ire from diU'erent iirtions of the
country, scarcely any two of them hailing
from the same State. As they were covered
with vermin w hen they arrived, our author
ities) were foreed to give them a good bath,
and provide them with new clothing. All
these prisoners are quite young, some of
them appearing to be more youthful than
the "thirteen-year-old" victim, and none of
them seem the "Wasts in human form" de
scriWl by a blood-and-thunder lawyer at
the hearing in Greensburg.
Gu Saturday afternoon Mienfl Kyle
brought in four more of the circus men,
named A. II. Davis, (lark Rose, II. Marks
and S. C. Peters. These four have interests
in the projierty of the show, and if the gen
eral opinion is correct, hail nothing to do
with any outrage. Mr. Davis was released,
Mr. Rose wa bailed, and the other two com
mitted for a hearing on Thur.-dav afternoon
next.
The icople of Somerset county who are
acquainted with the "true inwardness" of
this outrage case are not well pleased with
the prosieet of having the county saddled
with a bill of costs running, icrlmis, into
the thousands. The wholesale arrest of
some seventy men, and the destruction of
the business of the proprietors, which : li
censed and legitimate, is reganled as an un
just iersccution.
The show proierty was advertised to W
sold by the Sheriff of Armstrong county on
last Mondav.

if the farmers could have a fish pond, and if
