children, of Onawa, Iowa, are on a visit to
relatives and friends at Somerset. Mr. H.
is a son of the late Henry L. Holbrook, well
known to all the older citizens of this coun
ty as a man of ability and a capital survey
or. The young man inherits the brains of
his father, and is a welcome guest in every
circle. We will not sjak of his personal
apicaranee, for we know he is a modest man.
We are pleased to know that Mr. Holhniok
is pmsN.-rus in the State of his adoption.
Mrs. Holbnsik (formerly ML-s Mary Oliver)
once taught in a ladies' seminary in this
town, and is well and favorably known to
many of our people.
A coiTesKmle!it states that as he jiasscd
thmugh Xew Ccntrcville the other day, at a
moderate gait, in a two horse buggy, he was
i other by half a dozen dogs, with bark, howl
J and snarl. One large black canine, so old as
I to have white side whiskers, especially de-
sired to insert hi broken fangs into some
quivering human flesh. Our friend is at a
loss to know why the dogs harked at Ihui as
he iescd. He considers himself good-looking,
isn't lame, and his raiment was of the
most fashionable attcni. We would ad
vise the good people of the lively village to
keep their dog indoors as tin-correspondent

land will surely lessen the nuinlxT of the
woliish nuisances.
