I Kt Herald : Sir, by your permission J I wiil attempt to correct aa error into j which "Lost Cover, Xo. 4" aopeers to 1 have fallen. He intimates that Mountain j eer has become terrified at tho number and size ot the "Covers." This is ciearly mistake ; there is no cause lor alarm. since these "Covers" only fire one blank shot a piece and then retire to their native haunts, but it is not always sate to handle pilch too long and too often. Mountaineer does not wish lo become defiled with too long a contact with fiith, and it is only be cause "Cover Xo. 4" lell into this error that Mouutaineer has again picked up his pen. Mountaineer did not expect the "Co vers" to die befoio this time. There is a family of Ophiiliant that is designated by the opprobrious mime of Triyonorenhlui evnlonx, that are incapable ot dying be fore sunset, though their bodies are divest ed of a head. It is also claimed that this family of Ophidism have their Hearts lo caud so close to-the posterior portion ol their elongated bodies, that neither head or brains are at ail essential to lite. A spasmodic wagot the tail is, however, a sure sign ot approachiag dissolution. This is, perhaps, why they are all Brigadiers anil leaders. Mountaineer is not a naturalist, by any means ; but was taught during his school boy days, that there are but two things in natnre that hiss in the through) o! death. The one is a viper, on accouat oi its venom, and ibe other, a goose, on ac count ol its simplicity. Goslings were not t ken into account in those days, bnt since t le recovery ot four of the "Lost Covers" the next naturalist may classify them and Cill them "happy tamily Xo. 2." "Co ver Xo. 4" should be made the gooroo of both families, since the species fijihinia and the genus Aumr are not much unliko in their instincts in honor of the genus Siinia. Wbethcr Covers Xo. 5, 0, 1, 8. etc., wiil also return to their vomit is as much an open question as it is what it tak.-s to make an Addison Democrat.
