Wc were astonished to learn that Som erset has a greater altitude than Cresson. There are about forty boarders at the Som erset House, besides tbe transient custom ers. Mr. Stahl has always borne the repu'a tion ol an honest, upright man; was a good soldier during the war, has always been an earnest, hard working party man, and is the only Republican in a family of nine. There has been marked progress made npon the District in this good work dur ing the year, the reports indicate lhat the schools generally aie in a healty condi tion. The Convention was highly entertained with music by Prof. W. H. Holmes, of Grecnsburg, Pa., who was assistedby many cf the delegates and others.
