The "Boris" Deer or Tits Alleca
SlhB. One day last week Mr. Joel Bren-
nenian, a farmer residing in Gractsville
district, Garrett county, killed on Negro
mountain, a few miles south of Grants
ville, a buck which is supposed to be the
largest deer slain in that locality for many
years past. I be carcass was c.eaneu
where it tell ana nauiea 10 Jir. ureuue
man'b housex where it was dressed and
weighed. The saddle weighed ninety-
six pounds and the fore quarter and neck
one hundred and twenty pounds, muking
two hundred and sixteen pounds ot dress
ed meat. Unfortunately the bead, horns
and intestines were not weighed, but at
a fair estimate, would certainly have been
one hundred pounds. Estimating at this
rate for the offal, the deer weighed three
hundred and sixteen pounds. These
tacts are vouched for by gentlemen in this
city and in Grantsville. L'wnbtrlnnd

Lsformatiox Wasted. Editor
Herald. In the LutAtran Olnerttr of
Nov. 30. appears a rexrt of proceedings
of the Somerset County Conference held
at Jennerville. Nov. 13. In this report
reference is made to a discussion relative
to the "Vow under w hich every Lutheran
Minister is placed by his ordination to de
tend the lructrines ot the Lutheran church
as also to enforce the discipline ot the
same, thus setting forth the w rong done
Ministers in some parts of our beloved
Zion by the un-Lnth ran practices engaged
and persisted in," regardless of the evils
arising therefrom. Will you permit me,
through your columns, to ask some mem
bers ot the Conference a tew questions?
First, what is the language and nature
of the vow under w bich every Luiheran
Minister is placed iy his ordio-tiion ?
Second, w hat is meant by the un-Lutheran
practices engaged and persisted In, in some
lartsofibe Church Third, why is it
that Lutheran Ministers differ so much as
to doctrines, teachings and practices of
their own church?
A clear and concise
answer to these questions will doubtless
oblige many Lutherans, not only in this
section, but all over tue county.

Aboct Chestnuts. The lunnv man
of tbe Burlington lfrtcl.?yc noticing an
item in the Irwune in relation to tbe
large shipment ot chestnuts that was made
from Johnstown during the past two

which is not bad. He says: "Two

all inclination to live, out of you, and

your partaking of his bounty. Chestnuts!
