RobbeUies. While Mr. Win. , Bittner
and bis family were at church on Sunday
last, his bouse in Brothersvalley town.-Uip
was entered by thieves. The burglars cur
ried off 50 els. in money a'and number of
valuable papers.
On Sunday night an attempt was made
to enter the bouse ol Kpbraim J. Walker,
but Mr. Walker was awakened and the
thieves scared oft. On looking out of the
window Mr. Walker saw two men and a
large dog running away from the house.
There have leen a number of other
petty robter e committei' sucli as ro' b'n ;
ben roosts, spring bouses tic. About ten
days ago the benerie of Mr. Win. G. Wal
ker was robbed of some 30 chickens.
The article in last weeks Demverat w ith
such llitmiug head lines as "Immense Out
pourings of the People;" "Enthusiastic
Meeting at Ursina," etc, is very highly
colored. The MeyersJale meeting whs
nothing more nor leas than the regular
meeting of the Tilden and Hendricks club.
The meeting at I'rsina was attended by
about twenty persons. Hon. W. J. B ier,
who was to be one of theseukers, was de
tained at home by the accident to his fatti
er. A. Bruce Coft'roth addressed the
meeting for a short time, when, as there
were no other speakers present, the meet
ing adjourned. The meeting at Contin
ence was a medium sized atlUir, while the
Sipeaville and Bakersville meetings were
utter failures. Oh! yes ; The outpourings
were immense.
On Thursday larf, Hampton, a young
son of Johu C. Gaither. of Southampton
township, was drowned in W ills I reek.
It appears that the child was pl.iyiii
around the mill where his father was at
WJik. when through some means unkn wn,
be tell into the water and was drowued.
Mr. Gaither was busy helping his men to
fix some machinery, when not having
time to attend to the boy, he told him to
go up to the house. After some little time
Mr. G. returned to the bouse and found
the boy was not there. Search was im
mediately instituted, and his body was
found in the creek just below the- mill.
Hampton was an unusually bright child
of about twelve years ol age. The be

entire community in their terrible afflic

WHO CAN VOTE.'
Every male citizen, twenty-one years of
age, possessing tne following qualifications,
shall be entitled to vote at all elections :
1. He shall have been a citizen of the
I nited States one month.
2. He shall have resided in the Slate one
year ; or, if having previously been aqual
ified elector or native-born citizen thereof
and shall have removed therefrom and
returned, then be shall have resided there
in six months immediately preceding the
election.
8. He shall have resided ia tbe district
