Below we give a short account of tie Centennial of the '-Jersey Church" ot Lower Turkeyfcot twp. The good peo ple of Jersey kept the thing so quiet that w e did not know anything of it until last week. A suggestion to our obliging Ur sina correspondent "Mac," however, pro cured us the article. Crsixa Pa.. Sept. 6th. 1S73. Ateitennial meit'ng, constituting the lOuth anniversary of ihe Baptist Church of Turkeyfoot, .known as the "Jersey Church ") took place on the lDtn aad 20tii of August. The following Reverend gen tlemen were present and delivered aide ad dresses, suited to the occasion : B. F Wood burn, of Allegheny city, W. W. Hickman, of Cnwictown. John Williams ot "Fails City."J. C. Rush of Ml Pleasant Insti tute. F. Cunainghara, Rev. Walters, pas tor in charge, and others. Dr. Collins ot Somerset was present and made a short address, covering tie early settlement ot this part of the county. Traditional and circumstantial evidence indicate that the first Baptists, and first half mile long. We arrived at Liverpool on the 22n.l ct Xay. Ihe Mjrsey ruer which empties int the Larbor is a little, nariow, muddy stre.'ja when the tide is rut; when the tide is in howerer, it looks puite respectable. There are about 50 miles ot docks here, which cost about eleven mil. ion pounds. The res--els aie shut ia these docks by gates, just such as we have in our canals, and are thus kept afloat w hen the tide goes out. There is nothing else ot interest in Liverpool. One ot the things that struck me as strunge at first was the length of daylight. Ik. was light from 3 o'clock ia tiie mi raing to o'clock at night. London is wonderfully immense. If Somerset coun'y w ere built up solid from Mineral Point to Stoy-town, and from Bakersviile to Berlin with four story house aad no jards. you wouid bar something like Lo'-.d -n. This city j growing more rapidly now t aan ever here tofore. I saw rows and rows of new buildings going up. TLe Thames river, which ihe English are so rTroudof, is a small river, co larger than one of the branches ct the Juniata. I went down the Thames to Woolwich and Norwich. The English do not pronounce these names as we do, but Nor-ide and Wool idge. Being a stranger and seeking infor mation I spoke to every body. One gentle man thought the Thantes a "very fine stream, and, when havi ag listened to him for some time I spoke ot the dimensions of the MLisisippi he thought that I was eitii er crazy or h ing. Vt' Course I went to see the famous Lo idon bridge. It is a fine old structure, built ot stone. The House ot Parliament does not begin to compare wilh the Capitol at Washington, and dur ing a session the members sat around with their hats on. smoking and chatting, and when a member arose to speak he removed his hat. The famous Disrscii was there, and looked to me like a man who had just gotten over a hard spree. St. Paul's Cathedral covers six acres of ground, but is so symmetrical that you do aot at once take in its immensity. From the dome, which is 150 feet across, we had a magnificent view of London. From Sl, Paul's to Westminister Ab bey. I would like lo give you an idea ot this grand old place but is is literally im possible to describe it. The only way in which one can get an idea of it is by see ing it. It was there I heard Dean Stan ley preach. nvde Park, England's most famous!
