iiKtet all the shipping points connect

nation iu this respect is epial to the

The galvanic clork is one of the
most important objects of interest in
the (ireewich Observatory. The
work it accomplishes makes it per
haps tin. most wonderful clock in the
world, certainly thc most important
one in England. It jterfonns an im
portant duty iu registering the obser
vations. It regulates several clocks
within thc observatory, and the great
elock dial withoat thc gates, on which
the hours are reckoned from one to
twenty-four. It also rcirulales the
clock at (Jrecuu ich lluspital School.-, j
ne at the London Rridge station
f the Southwestern Railway, jinoth-!
rat the 1'ostofliee, Saiot .Martin's-lc-Orand,
aud another in Lombard
8trect. Once every day it telegraphs
.orrect time to the great clock tower
at Westminister. It drops the signal
ball over the Observatory, one near
Charting Cross, and another ut Ieal.
It fires time guns nt Shields and
Newcastle, and every hour through
the day it (lashes out correct time to
each of the railway companies. . The
.lock accomplishes this work secm
inglv bv mere volition, aud without
nnv human in! erfiTrnce. Every iiinni-
ing it-is corrected by an actual obscr-J

in the higher regions of the States,

taking the wiling price in one's own

Rut here in the middle States, or
