In the afternoon we accouipuniisl Supt.
Douthett in his visitation to the fourth
ward schools, under the princiialship of
Pro!. John Morrow. We shall not tiuse
to delineate, but. sutlice it to say ihe-e
schools are all that cidihl be expected. In
the evenin; we attended an exhibition, by
the pupils of the third-ward, under the
runrdianship ot Prof. G. Y. MeCord.
The follow in it resolutions were unani
mously adopted by the convention:

the practice ol holding joint li'x-al institutes.
and that we will uau our list elforts to
make them more reneral and efficient in
our respective counties.
Rttolrtd. That it is the sense ot this con
vention, that siiccial examinations should
lie held for applicants for Professional Cer
tificates. lUtotrttl. That it is the opinion of this
convention that the jin-at want of our
schools is well directed monthly sujicrvi
sion by district superintendents." and that
we reipiest the Stare Superintendent to en
deavor to make this ohliiralory 011 the part
of direttors.
