grain is pricked. Cut ofi'thc corn and pack
in stone jars iu the following order : A
layer of salt at the bottom, half an inch
deep. Then one of coin two inches iu
depth, another half-inch of salt, and so ou
until the jar is nearly tilled. Let thu top
most layer of salt be double the depth of
the others, and pour orer all melted uot
hot lard. Press upon this, when nearly
hard, thick white paper, cut to tit thu
mouihofthe jar. Keep iu a cool place.
