Benvettown was selected as the next place of meet
ing, on the 2d day of March.
Tue New Railroad. The grading on tho Dan
ville, liuzleton A. Wilkesbarro Railroad, botween
this place and Danville, will be oompleted this week,
and the laying of the traok will be commenced next ;
week, and we may soon expect to le another im
portant railroad to termiuute at this place. The
grading, above Danville, is also being completed ra
pidly, for the laying of the traok. We are glad to
boar that the road la being pushed forward to vigo
rously, and we havo no doubt that it will be finished
much sooner than was anticipated.
Th" Nw Steam Saw Mill. Workmen are en
gaged in putting up the machinery, Ao , iu the new
team saw mill, iu the upper part of town. This
mill, when completed, will be obe of the best In this
lection of country. The planning and frame work
of the mill was done by C. 8. Wynn, Esq., of Fisher's
Ferry, who has the reputation of being one of the
best millwrights in the State. Ilia work proves that
he has not failed, in the eonstruolion of this mill, to
establish himself as a master mechanic. While the

The new Rolling Mill and Nail Faotory of Van Allen
A Co., started some two years ago, is doing a largo
business in manufacturing tho pinto and cutting

Leslie, one of tho firm, and fouud many things of

uf last week, and on Thursday tho jury rendered a
veidiet of acquittal. It is stated that when tho jury

trial.
