IS Tbb fiaAsotaa Caaa Oil CoWAir-We Mentioned last week that a company had eom Snebeed boring for ail on the property of Valentine suase, sear bnydertown. We visited the plaee on Saturday last,, and Witnessed the proems of boring The contractors for sinking the well are Meiers. Thereby, Jackson, Daaghawout and Peneyl. The two gentlemen trat named fere from Pittsburg, and have had considerable experience in the business, having for a long time been employed In the oil regions In the western part of the State. They have an exoallent engine and everything complete to proseout the enterprise saeeessfulli , The work oi boring was eommenoed about twe weeks siaee, and has beea In constant epcratlon, day and night. On Saturday they were down about thirty-two feet, at whioh depth blank shell rook, of a bard, flinty nature, wasatruok, whioh wilt require some time to drill through. . After getting down a greater depth a heavier drill will be used, when the Work will go em more rapidly. We saw specimen of oil, or some oleaginous material, pumped tip with water, during our visit. The sand-pump, when drawn np, was coated with some greasy subslanoe. The operation has naturally erected a greal deal of excitement in the neighborhood, and the works are visited daily by numbers from different parts of the county. The gentlemen composing the compa ny are principally residents of the township, well-to-do formers, and seem to have unbounded oonftdenoe in the suocess of the undertaking. They oertainly deserve a great deal of oredit for their energy and enterprise in organising the company, with a view of thoroughly testing the indications of oil in that locality. Wcoopy the folio ing, in relation to the Gartner well, near Muncy, from the Luminary, of Tuesday last, as we learn that tho progress of this well is watched with great interest by thoso connected with the Shamokin Creek Oil Company : " The Muncy Conl Oil Company having sunk their well on tho tiortner farm to 600 feet.
