days past, have been bringingup soldiers, not severe
ly wounded, in the recent battles in Virginia. On
Tuesday evening a number of the boys were obliged
to lay over here from 7 to 11 at night. As they
were buugry, a supper was furnished them by our
citizens at tha Central Hotel, some of them stated
that they had not had a warm meal for several day.
Porno of them had i narrow escape. On had part
of his forehead and side of the head skinned by a
.Minnie ball. Another had a Minnie ball put through
the flesh between the neck aud chin. They are all
returning home a SO day furlough. No wounded
soldiers need wnnt for food in Suuburv.

was very severe, the spit-box was half full of thick
pus. Pulse 140, leg swollen very much ; and worse
tnan all. she bad chronio diarrhu-a. Her bowels bad
been moved eleven times tbat day. told her that she
bad lungs enough to be cured, but that this diarrhoea
bad been ol loug standing, and her stomach was in
such a ulcerated condition that I was afraid nothing
could ha done, bbe imisted I should try and do
what I could for her. observing that she could not
lost long in the condition she w as in. and I could not
make her any worse. I gave her first a dose of my
Mandrake Pills, and the tonic and ,vyrup freely .
That was on Tuesday, and by the next Sunday the
diarrhoea was carried off. her appetite bad returned
aod she could sit up in bed and eat ber dinner, bhe
is uuw well, and gave a lung certificate, certified to
by the Kev. Ir Lowniug.
'Mrs. Bartholomew, bd West Forty-fifth street,
came to my rooms with a tumor on ber liver. Mie
war low-spirited, ikiu fallow, tongue coaled, bowels
costive, no appetite, and fast siuking into the grave.
Toe said tumor had been running over fourteen
veait. I gave her siyrup. Tonic and Pills, and told
her to take them just as the directions wore printed.

clean a little around tbe edges, her skin whiter and
ber eyes brighter and the tumor discharging very

running, ana was healing up. and that every doctor
had told her that if it ever healed it would cause her
death. I told her that the disease bad all left ber
system, and nature would heal the ulcer up. Thev
