THE BULL AND THE LOCOMOTIVE.
In port of moody triatlnrM
RoameJ he o'er the ijiassy plain .
Halt in anger; half in nlnH',
.' TiHwed hia bushy mil find mwint..
Was he yet tha meadow's monarch
Of j ha pasture (till the kiii(1 ,
Ami ha' ra,ied hi hend so limily ,
Cave his tail a wider swing.
Was he not acknowledged chieftain
Ot lbs horned drove of cull le. 1
Was he not the tried and uutted
tu each jovine field of battle"!
Wan he nol the loved and chosen
Of the milch kine's fairest queen I
Wan he not the admiration
Of each, bull-call on ibe green i .
It was true, and well heknew It i
Woo his claim would dare dispute
.Dearly, dearly should he rue it,
Be he long or short horned brute.
What. ihnn. meaiil this darinff stranger,
Who. with breath of smoke and ti.ame,
Spouting fear aud breathing dmiser,
Through the meadows rushing came!
True, the intruder's limbs were weighty,
And he seemed a thing of might ;
True, he might be very dangerous
If he showed a wish to fight.
But he blowed too much and loudly
To be willing for a lark,
And the bull repeated proudly,
Bitting dogs do never bark ;
"And I iwear by fair Europa,
When the strangar comes asram
Rushing through the verdant capture,
Steaming wild across the plain
I will call my herd to battle,
Boldly cross the monster's track
Either we shall be gone cattle,
Or we'll drive him, frightened back :
See '. after the locomotive
Whirling o'er the fragrant mead,
And he nears the very meadow
Where, beneath the gallant lead
Of their monarch true and valiant,
Stand the tawny, horned crowd ;
Naught ha heeds them, but the bell ring,
And he whistles very loud.
From hia pent-up breast escaping
Shrieked the steam a dismal cough ;
Frightened was the herd of bullocks,
And they madly scampered off
And but one, and he, courageous,
Naught but death can force to yield :
Ha will conquer, or, as beef-meat,
You shall bea: him from the field.
There he stands, and waits the coming
Of his foe who draweth near :
Roars he with triumphant fury,
From a breast that knows no fear.
Slicks he down his noble frontlet,
With considerable! vim
Butt 1 he takes the locomotive,
Butt! the locomotive him.
Need 1 tell who most did suffer 1
Need 1 apeak the bulluck's fate 1
Widowed cows, with ceaseless lowing,
Will the horrid tale relate.
In the flashing of the listening
In the twinkling of ft thought
He, the thief of cow affections,
By tha cow-catcher was caught.
' Sat a farmer on the rail-car,
Saw the bullock's fatal stroke
Saw him fall across the sleepers,
Knew his gallant neck wts broke ;
Saw his form in fragments lying
As he sadly gazed at them,
, Quoth be, "I admire your courage,
But your prudence I condemn !"
MORAL.
Young men ajl, w hen you are angered
, Deem a rival's in your path
Find yourself forgotten, slighted
Think ! there's little usa in wrath.
If you're wise, you'll grin and bear it,
Howe'er vilely wrontred you are ;
Ne'er, on any provocation,
Butt against a railroad car.

This invaluable remedy for all diseases of the
Thboat and Lusr.s, has attnined a celebrity
from its temaikable cures never equalled by any
other medicine before. Other pteparationa have
shown themselves palliatives, and sometimes ef
ferted notable cures, but none has ever so fully
won tbe confidence of every community where it
is known. After years of trial in every climate,
the results have indisputably shown it to possess
a mnstcrv over this dangerous class of diseases,
