Ingpooiijhe waa compelled to limit ita manufacture, by
which mains it has been kept out of market, and tha Biles

derful HEALING POWER.
Knowing, many years ago. that he had, hy his skill. si
nce,nd experienced, devised nu article which would he
of incelcunble advantage to mankind, when nm-e known
nd extenaivclv used, he hoped and persevered, expecting
the time to arrive when the means wouiu ne mrnirairn i
krini ii inin milver.nl notice, when its iiicstinnble virtue
would be known and appreciated. This time has come, the
means are supplied ; this
GRAND AND L'NEQUELLED PREPARATION.
Is manufactured on the largest aeale, mid is called tor
throughout tins length and breadth of the land, especially as
it is found incapable of degeneration or deterioration.
Let every man ring throughout the land, tlmt. Old Dr.
Jacob Townseiid is nuw manufacturing the real 'Townwnd
ektrsanorilla,' which never sours, never ferments, and never
changes its character.
From this day forth the people nhnll have the Pure. Gen
uine Townsend surapnriila, which slnll never sour in the
bottle, or in the stomach, and it shall yet banish from the
land all Fermenting, Souring, Exploding. Vinegary Sir-
aapariilaa, now in use A good Sarsaimnlla. pure nnd
genuine, ought to live; a poor souring, slip-slop Sursapa
rilla ought todroopaud die.
The Old Dr's. Sarsuparilla will keep pure and perfect
100 years.
Unlike young S. P. Towiwcnd'e it improves with age,
and never changes, but for the belter ; because it is pre
pared on scientific principles by a scientific man. The
highest knowledge of Chemistry, and the latest discoveries
of the Art have all been brougi. into requisition in the
manufacture of the OLD DU S. SARSAI'Alill.LA. The
Sorsaporilla root, it is well known to mclit-ul men, con
tains many medicinal properties, and some properties
which are inert or useless, unrt others, which, it rcuuuc-U
in preparing it for use, prtnluce fermentation ami acid,
which is injurious to the system. Some of the properties
of Sarsapanllu nre so volatile, that they entirely evuiiai
and are lost iu the preparation, if they are not preserved hy
bya scientific process, known only to those experienced ia
ita manufacture. Moreover, the?e volatile principles, which
fly off ill vapor, or as aa exhalation, under neat, are the verit
eueutial medical properties of the root, which give to y
II its value.
Any person can boil or stew the root till they get n dark
coloied liquid, which is more from the coloring mutter in
the root lhau from anything else; they can then strain this
insipid or vapid liquid sweeten with e nir molasses, and
then call it '-Sarsaparilla Extract or Syrup." But such is
not the article known as the
GENUINE OLD DR. JACOB TOWNSEND'S SAR
SAPARILLA. This is to prepared, that all the inert properties- of the
Saraparilla root are first removed evury thing capable of
becoming acid or of fermentiation, is extracted and reject
ed ; then every particle of medical virtue is secured iu a
pure and concentrated form ; and tints it is rendered inca
pable of losing any of ita valuable nnd healing properties.
Prernrcd iu this way, it is made the most powerful agent
m ' CURE OF INNUMERABLE DISEASES.
Hencuthe reason why we hear commendations on every
idem its favor by men, women, and children. We tind it
doing wonders in the cute of Consumption, Dyspepsia, and
Liver Complaint, and in Uheuiiiuiism, Scrofula, Piles,
Costivcness, all Cutaneous Eruptions, Pimples, Blotches,
nd all affections urisinc, from
IMPURITY OK THE BLOOD.
It possesses a marvollous eiHcucy, in all complaints arising
from indigestion, from Acidity of t ho Stomach, from un
equal circulation, determination of hloot! to the head, palpi
tation of the heart, cold feet and cold hands, colli chills and
hot flashes over the body. It has not lis equal in Colds and
Coughs ; and promotes eusy ex pectoral ion. and gentle per-
piration relaxing stricture of the lungs, throat, anil every
other part.
But in nothing is ita excellence more manifestly seen and
cxnowiotiguu man in an minis aim stages oi l cmuie t-uia-plaints.
It works wonders in raises of Flnor Albus or Whites,
Falling of the Womb, Obstructed, Suppressed, or Puinfu!
Menses, Irregularity of the menstrual pcthxls, and the like;
and is a effectual in curiua all the forms of Kitluev Disease.
Bv removing obstructions, and rcculutiuc the trcueral sys
tem, it gives tone and strength to the whole body, and thus
vare. sii iirrius oi
NERVOUS DISEASES AND DEBILITY,
And thus prevents or relieves a great variety of other ma
ladies, as Spinal Irritation, Neuralgia, St. Vitus Dance,
Swooning. Epileptic Fits. Convulsions. 4c.
And yet he would fuin have il understood that Old Dr.
Jacob Townseud's Genuine Original Sarsaparilla, is an
IMITATION of Ins interior nrenaratlon !
Heaveu forbid that we should deal in uu article which
would bear the most distant resemblance to S P. Town-
end's article ! and which would bring down upon the Old
Dr. such a mountain load of cuinplaims und criminations
from Agenta who have sold, and purchasers who have used
8. P. Townseud's Fermenting Compound. We wish it
understood, because it is the absolute truth, that S. P.
Towmend'e article and Old Dr. Jacob Towusemra Suraa
parilla are hcaven-wnle npart anil infinitely dissimilar : that
they are unlike in every particulai, having not one single
inula; in common.
Aa s. P. Townsend is no dietor. and never was, is so
chemist, no phuramuceutist knows no more of medicine
or disease than auy otner coinuvn, unscicutitic, unprofes
sional man, what guarantee can the public have that they
re receiving a genuine scientific medicine, coulaiuing ull
the virtues used in prcring it, end which are incapuble of
changes which might render tlicm the ugeuls ol disease uv
ilistead of health
But what else should be exneetcd from one who knows
nothing comparatively of meiliciue or disease ! It requires
aeison ot some experience, to cook and serve up even
common deoent nieul, how much more important is it thai
tha persona who manufacture medicine, designed for wuuk
tonuicheand enfeebled systems, shuuUl know well the
medical properties of plants, the best manner of seenring
and concentrating their henliug virtnes, also an e:UcnHive
knowledge of tho vurious diseases which alfcci the huiuau
ystem, and how to uduni remedies to these discuses!
It is not possible for lliis medicine to do good ; it has no
thing in it which can ever harm, it can never sour or
poll, and therefore, can never loose its eurniive properties,
It cleanse, the b) lod, cxr-itcs the liver to healthy action,
tones the stomach, and gives good diue-lioii, relieves ths
liowels of torpor and eoustiuition. allays iiiHamuiiou, pun
nee toe akin, equalizes the circulation of the blood, pro-
aucuig gentle wuruiiu equally an over me uouy.nnu at ths
insensible perspiration ; reluxes ull obstructs ns, und invigo
fate, the entire nervous system. Is not this, then, the medi
cine you pre-eminently need ! But can any of these thing,
be said of 8. P Townseud's inferior article ? This young

This may certify that I have used one of the
