Ah Expedition to Yucatan is proposed
by Col. Anthony Kinp, who wishes to raise a
force of 2,000 men. He is familiar with the
country, and will answer all inquiries at A
mcrican Hall, comer of Broadway and Grand
sts., N. Y. Col. K. states that ho has 600
men enrolled, and is looking for advices from
Washington. X. Y. Paper.
Who authorized Col. Anthony King to raise
such an expedition, and what has become of
Gen. George Washington Dixon's famous ex
pedition to tho same country 1 Phil. Ledger.
The Osage Chief, Black Dog, is dead.
He died, says our informant, about the 24 th
ult., at his village. Ha has been lingering
for two or three years under a tormenting
disease. During his sickness, ho made two
trips upon the prairies by the assistance of
his band. Ho was literally a sulf-mado Hero.
As a warrior, he had no equal among his peo
ple. He was courteous in his Indian ways
warm hearted, and generally beloved. In
stature, the Black Dug was about 7 feet,
weighing aomo two hundred and s-jventy-fivo
pounds.

another Revolution having broken out in St.
Domingo are confirm id by tho arriv.il at New
York of tho brig Elizabeth, in 21 days from
Marigoone. It brings intelligence that
:Tho people, throughout th vli.i!.i rx'ent
of tho Island, were arming against th - gov
ernment. The night previous to h r sailing,
an army was ar.si-mbling at M;irigo.-:i", to
which was to be joined aivj'.lu.r force of in
surgents 2,000 strong, raised at Jacmcl, and
both together were to give battle to the Gov
ernment troops. The people appeared to be
much exasperated against the President.
"While lying about forty miles from Mari
goone, during a calm which occurred the day
after her departure, Capt. Williams heard du
ring the entire day the sound of hfavy can
non, believing that the insurgents and govern
ment forces had met, and were fighting near
Port an Prince."
The insurgents are the mulattoes, the gov
ernment having sided with the blacks and
allowed their demands of the abolitition of
the Constitution of 1846 and the restoration of
that of 1816.
State Lunatic Asulcm. The Ilarrisburg
Intelligencer slates that the Commissioners of
the State Lunatic Asylum have held a meet
ing, and concluded to commence the building
during the present summer.
Colvmbia River. A new and excellent
channel has been discovered at the mouth
of the Columbia River, Oregon. This
makes three entrances to the river through
which ships can pass. There were nearly
two thousand wagons on their way to Ore.

Lieut. Crittenden, son of the Senator,
who acquainted Santa Anna with the disa
