ill-ITBUm STATE TICKET.
FOR AUDITOR GENERAL:
Ct.L. DAVID STANTON, op Beaver
FOR SURVEYOR GENERAL :
Cor.. 1I01JT IMJEATII.of ScnuvLKiLL
t-J" We stirred up the Democracy, here
a! xiuts, gome, by our proposition, last week,
to thoroughly organize the Republican party
lior aliouts, hoM a Convention, and place a
full ticket in the field. The fact of the bust
r."-s is. th;i the leaders of that party here
know f.:!l well that, for Republicanism,
th?re is wi.-dom in thc jroposition, and that
concerted action upon it could not but
re louifl to our present advantage, and to
our triumphant success in the no distant fu
tare.
Jx?t tJie masses or the people composing
the Democracy know that we have set out
to stan d nnd walk alone, upon the basis furn
ihed by the glorious principle.-) of Republi
canism thai hereafter we act as a party
without conniving, cahogling, or in any way
poking our nosos into the work of the De
ni'-era tic leaders that we are neither to be
wheedled, bought nor nold from the straight
f jrw.ird pursuit of the goal of our ambition
the greatest po.-sib!e amount of good to
our whole people and we shall soon see in
the ranks of that party an independence,
manliness and hubbub that we shall be sur
prized at, bct-au.se never suspected. The
le.id is of Democracy know this, and they
w-iuM rather that anything else should hap
p"U, than that the course suggested by us
should be approved and acted upon by our
frien Is.
We have recently, in our Senatorial rela-
t:.nh:p, been joined to a new people. We
have Lccn cut loose from the line which tied
u to a political Juggernaut, which insisted
that because a Ticket was formed, why,
therefore we must go it without a why or
wherefore and it is well for us to consider
whether our ' 'new Departure" should inaugu
rate an era, with new ideas, new hopes, new
r.nd more thorough determination, and cou
(. '.ten tly better hoes of success.
Our new brethcrn arc men largely Demo
cratic we admit but not so politically hidc-b-mnd
but that they can occasionally step to
cur hide, and elevate good reliable republican-'
to the county offices, the Legislature,
the Judiciary, and even to the Congress of
the United States it,elf. This has been done
more than once, and it will be still oftner re
js atcd in the future, if we, at this cud of
the district, go to work, as though we really
intend to be true to ourselves, and support
the clToi ts of our friends at the other end.
Indeed, it may speedily become a permanent
iine oi' conduct throughout the entire dis
trict. When we consider what has been
d'ine in Luzerne, aud that there, independent

The end of the arrival of city visitors is
not yet. Each day and each train brings
large accessions to the numbers already here.
Well, let them come, there is always room
to spare for a few more, and plenty to feed
them on.
