mence in the Public School House at Ihod
hcadsville, on the first Tuesday in April, 1S71,
at 9 o'clock in the forenoon, and continue ten
weeks.
: CONDITIONS OF ADMISSION.
Any person of good moral character will bo
admitted a.s a student.
Students are admitted at any time during
the term, but it U earnestly desired that they
enter at the boirinning of the term.
COURSES OP INSTRUCTION.
ELEMENTARY COURSE.
This course embraces all the branches that
arc required by Iaw to.be taught in the Com
mon Schools of Pennsylvania.
HIGHER COURSE.
This course embraces such branches as am
not usually taught in the Common School
of our State.
NORMAL COURSE.
This course constitutes the main feature of
the Institution. It embraces.
1st. Instruction in all the branches which
Common school teachers arc usually obliged,
to teach.
2d. Theoretical and practical instruction
in Methods of Instruction. A course of Lec
tures will be delivered on the Science of
Education and the Art of Teaching, with
special reference to prevailing German Schojl
Districts. The German Language will be
taught, theoretically and practically, -without
any extra charge. Students who desire t
pursue only a partial course, may select such
branches as they may decin most advanta
geous. LOCATION.
Brodheadsville, where the building of tho
Wickkusiiam German-English Normal
School will be erected, is a rural village,' sur
rounded by a country of surpassing beauty.

Persons from a distance desiring to reach
the school can do so per stage from Strouds
burg, on the Delaware, Ijacka wanna, and
Western Railroad, on 3Ionday, Wednesday,
and Friday of each week ; from Lehighbm,
on the Lehigh Valley Railroad, and Weiss
port, on the Lehigh and Susquehanna Rail
road, on Tuesday, Thursday, aud Saturday
of each week ; also from Hickory Run, and
other points.
LIMITED NUMBER OF STUDENTS.
As the Public School House in which the
first session of tho Institute will commence,
affords accommodations for only thirty-two
students, those who intend to apply for
admission, will consult their interests by ap
rlyin;r soon.
