Postal Affairs.
The Government in now drawing1 on a
Southern Postmasters for balances due prior
to the Rebellion Drafts have been drawn
on all the Presidential offices in the Southern
States, amounting to 157,407 18. Virginia
is further behind than any other State, her
indebtedness amounting to $29,190 80. In
each case the delinquent postmaster hss been
notified that unless the drafts arc paid, suits
will immediately be commenced against
them by the Department.
The Money-Order Office, established No
vember 1, 1&64, had issued at the close
the fiscal year, ending June 30, 1865
over 4,UUu money-orders, amounting
to l,ouU,122 .12. The amount of fees re
ceived was 11,534 90, of which sum post
masters received one-third, and the (aovern
ment the remainder. During the eight
months referred to there were 14d offices in
operation, at an eggregate expense during

420 offices in operation.
. The srand firemen's parade iu Phila
Hclphia on Monday last, was an impos
ing demonstration. There were in the
procession 102 hose carriages, 57 stea
lers, 11 hand engines, 12 hook and lad
der carnages, and 21 ambulances, includ
ing o0 compauies from abroad. It is
estimated that the line was ten miles m
length. The day was fine, and the citi
zens turned out on masse to do honor to
the fireman.
Jeff. Davis' treasure has been counted
at the Treasure Dcparteracut, and found to
amount to 100,000 87,878 bcins in
gold and S 8,882 in silver.
The amount of gold now in existence is
estimated at four thousand ciht hundred
nd sixty two millions; of silver, five thous
and if uvea hundred millions.
