RESTORING -
THE BALD AND GRAY.
"Many, since the great discovery of Prof.
Wood, have attempted not only lo imitate
his restorative, but profess to have discovered
something that would produce results iden
tical ; but they have all come and gone, be
inf carried away by the wonderful results of
Prof. Wood's preparation, and have been
forced to leave the field to its resistless sway.
Read ihe following:
Bath, Maine, April 18th, 1859.
Prof. O. J. Wood & Co: Gents.: The Id
ler I wrote you in 1856 concerning your val
uable Hair Restorative, and which you have
published in this vicinity and elsewhere, has
given rise to numerous enquiries touching
the facts in the case. The enquiries are,
first, is it a fact of my habitation and name,
as stated in the communication; second, is it
true of all therein contained; third, does my
hair still continue to be in good order and of
natural color 1 To all I can and do answer
invariably yes. My hair is even better than
in any stage of my life for 40 years past,
more solt, thrifty, and better colored; the
same is true of my whiskers, and the only
cause why it is not generally true, is that the
substance is washed off by frequent ablution
of the face, when if care were used by wi
ping the face in close connection with the
whiskers, the same result will follow as the
hair. I have been in the receipt of a great
number of letters from all parts of New Eng
land, asking me if my hair still continues to
be good; as there is so much fraud in the
manufacture and sale of various compounds
as well as ibis, it has, no doubt been basely
imitated and been used, not only without any
good effect, but to absolute injury. I have
not used any of your Restorative of any ac
count, for some mouths, and yet my hair isas
rood as ever, and hundreds have examined it
with surprise, as 1 am now 61 years old and
not a gray hair in my head or on my face;
and to prove this fact, I send you a lock of
my hair taken off the past week. 1 received
your favor of two quart bottles last summer,
for which I am very grateful: I gave it to
my friends and thereby induced them to try
it, many were skeptical until after trial, and
then purchased and used it with universal
success. I will ask a favor, that you send
me a test by which I can discover fraud in
the Restorative, sold by many, 1 fear, with
out authority from you. A pure article will
insure success, a"nd I believe where good ef
fects do not follow, the failure is caused by
the impure article, which curses the inventor
of the good. I deem it my duty as hereto
fore, to keep you apprised of the continued
effect on my hair, as I assure all who enquire
of me of my unshaken opinion of its valuable
results. I remain, dear sir, yours,
A. C. RAYMOND.
Prof. O. J. Wood: Bear Sir. I would cer
tainly be doing you agreat injustice not to
make known to the world, the wonderful, as
well as the unexpected result I have expe
rienced from using one bolllcof your Hair
Restorative. After using every kind of Re
storatives extant, but without success, and
finding my head nearly destitute of hair, I
was finally induced to try a bottle of your
Hair Restorative. Now, candor and justice
compel me to announce to whoever may read
this, that I now possess a new and beautiful
growth of hair, which I pronounce richer and
handsomer than the original was. I will
here take occasion to recommend this valu
able remedy to all who may feel the necessi
ty of it. Respectfully yours,
REV. S. ALLEN BROCK.
P. S. This testimonial of my approbation
for your valuable medicine (as you are aware
of) is unsolicited: but if you think it worthy
a piace among the rest, insert if yon wish;
if not destroy and say nothing.
Yours, &.C.. Rev. S. A. B.
The Restorative is put up in bottles of
three sizes, viz: large, medium, and small;
ihe small holds i a pint, and retails for one
dollar perbottle; the medium holds at least
twenty per cent, more in proportion then the
small, retails for two dollars per bottle; the
large holds a quart, 40 per cent, more in pro
portion, and retails for S3.

turned inward and distressed me at tho stomach. Two
yearn ago it broke out on my head and covered my s-calp
and eard with one son:, which was painful and loathsome
beyond description. J tried many medicines mid several
physicians, but without much relief from any thing. In
fact, the disorder grew worse. At length 1 was rojoiced
to read in the Oope) .Messenger that you had prepared
un alterative (Sarsaparilla), for I knew from your reputa

Cincinnati and got it, and used it rill it cured me. 1 took
it, as you advise, in small doses of a teaspoonful over a
mouth, and used almost three bottles- New and healthy

most cheerfully comply with tho request of your agent in
Raying I have found your Sar.aparilla a most excellent

employ such a remedy, but especially in Ftmult Disrates
of tho Scrofulous diathesis. 1 have cured many inveter

Edward S. Marrow, of Newbury, Ala., writes, "A dan

which hud defied all Ihe remedies wo could employ, has
at length been completely cured by your Extract of Sar

Dr. J. C. Ayer: Sir, I cheerfully comply with the re
quest of your acent. and report to you borne of the cflccU
1 have realized with your Sarfaparilla.
I have cured with it, in my practice, most of tho com
plaints for which it is recommended, and have found its
effects truly wonderful iu the cuio of Vmcrntlaml Mer
curial Disease. One of my patients had Syphilitic ulcers
in his throat, which wero consuming his palate apd tho
top of his mouth. Your Sarsaparilla, steadily taken,
cured him in five weeks. Another was attacked by sec
ondary symptoms in his nose, aud the ulceiatiqn hud
eaten away a considerable part of it, fo that I believe tho
disorder would soon reach his biaiu and liill him. Hut it
yielded to my administration of your Sarsaparilla: the
ulcers healed, and ho h well again, not of course without
eomo disfiguration to his face. A woman who had been
treated for the same disoider by mercury was sulfering
from this poisou in her bones. They had become f-o i-en-sitive
to the weather that on a damp day she suffered ex
cruciating pain in her joints and bones. She, too, was
cured entirely by your Sarsaparilla in u few weeks. I
know from its formula, which your agent gave me, that
this Preparation from your laboratory must Lea great

..with it have not surprised me.
