    STEAIGHTFOEWARDNESS IN BUSI
NESS. Tt is the received opoinion, that men
find straightforwardness the best for bus
iness. It is thus that Wood, Eddy &
Co., the successors of Swan & Co., of
Augusta, Ga., and Gregory & Maury, of
"Wilmington, Dclawurc, have secured their
respect in public confidence. Their es
tablished lottery institution has been for
many years in cxistcuce, and during the
hole time their straightforward manner
of doing business has put money into
their own purses and fortunes into th
pockets of those who have had dealings
with them. 1 heirs is a legalized lottery,
and their prizes arc immediately paid on
Uemaud. By fonvardiugSlO, $5, or 82
to cither address you will stand a chance
bf winuirig in return, the whole, half or
Quarter of their maguificcBt prizes.

Professor ood's wonderful discovery
Certificates of its efficacy are constantly
coming in, and a village can hardlv be
found in the West, where living witnesse
cannot be found to testify from experi
ence that it will not ouJy retorc gray
hair to its original color, but will restore
to the bald head the locks of youth and
beauty, thus furnishing an effectual anti
dote for the ravagoa of time and disease.
Among those who certify positively to its
afficacy in accomplishing its work, is
Judge LJrcese, of this Circuit, together
with other responsible witnesses. Gray
headed bachelors and widowers who de

afflicted as above described, deserve to

THE GREAT WONDER
OF THE NINETEENTH CENTURY,
PROFESSOR WOOD'S
S:ivs the St. Louis, (Mo.) Democrat: Be
low we, publish a letter to Dr. Wood, of this
city, from a gentlemen in Maine, which
speaks glowingly of the superior merits of his
hair tonic. Such evidence must have its ef
fect, when coming from a reliable source1
If certificates arc guarrantees ot truth, the
Dr. needs no encomiums, nor useless puffery
from the press :
Bath, Maine, Jan. 20, 1856.
Professor O. J. Wood & Co. .
Gentlemen: Having my attention called
a few months since to the highly beneficia
efi'ccts of your hair restorutive, I was induced
to make application of it upon my own hair
which had become quite gray, probably .one-
third white; my whiskers was of the same
character. Some three months since I pro
cured a bottle of your hair restorative, and
used it. I soon found it was proving what
had wished. 1 used it about twice a week
I have since procured another bottle, of whicl
I have used some. I can now certify to the
world that the gray or white hair has totally
disappeared, both on my head and face, and
my hair has resumed its natural color, and I
believe more soft and glossy than it has been
before for twenty-five years. I. am now six
ty, years old; my good wife at the age of fif
ty-two, has used it with the same euect.
The above notice I deem due to. you for
your valuable discovery. I am assured that
whoever will rightly use, as per directions,
will not have occasion to contradict my state
ments. 1 am a citizen ot tins city and a res
ident here for the last fifteen years, and am
known to nearly every one and adjomg towns
Any use you may make of the above, with
my name attached, is at your service, as I
wish to preserve the beauties of nature in
others as well as myself. I am, truly, yours,
A. C. RAYMOND.

WOOD'S HAIR RESTORATIVE.
Professor Wood Dear sir: Having had
the misfortune to lose the best portion of my
hair, from the effects of the yellow fever, in
New Orleans in 1854, I was induced to make
a trial of your preparation, and found it to
answer as the very thing needed. My hair
is now thick and glossy, and words can ex
press my obligations to you in giving to the
afflicted such a treasure.

Professor Wood Dear Sir." Having made
trial of your Hair Restorative, it gives me
pleasure to say, that its effect has been ex
cellent in removing inffamation, dandruffand
a constant tendency to itching with which 1
lave been troubled from my childhood; and
las also restored my hair, which was becom,-
ng gray to its original color. I have used
no other article with anything like the same
pleasure or profit. Yours truly,
J. K. BRAGG.
The Restorative is put up in bottles of three
sizes, viz: large, medium, and small; the
small holds a pint, and retails for one dol-
ar per bottle; the medium holds at least 2U
per cent more in proportion than the small,
retails for two dollars' per bottle; the large
10ms a quart, 40 per cent, morem nroporlion,

consumer. Those dealing . uie I intend
shall be satisfied with the article they get, as?
well as the price, arid whenever they are not;
I will be pleased to have them return the
liquor, and make the fact known, for f in--end
to make it a permanent bnsiness, an'df
can only do so by dealing honorably. All
orders sent me, by stage drivers or others, will
be promptly attended to, the same as though:
the person was present dealing for himself.

Has permanently located him
self in Stroudsburg, and moved
his ofllce next door to Dr. S.
Walton , and nearly opposite S. Ree's's Hat &
Cap store, where he is fully prepared to treat
the natural teeth, and also to insert incorrupt
ible artificial teeth on pivot and plate, in the
latest and most improved manner. Most per
sons know the danger and folly of trusting"
their work to the ignorant as well as" the"
traveling dentist. It matters not how much
experience a person may have, he is liable to
have some failures out of a number of cases,
and if the dentist lives at a distance, it is fre
quently put off until it is too late to save the
tooth or teeth as it may be, otherwise the in-;
oonvenience and trouble ot going so far.
Hence the necessity of obtaining the services
of "c dentist near home. Ali work warranted
