New York, Jan. 8, 1853.
Meesrs. O. J. Wood & Co.,
Gentlemen: Having heard a good deal a
bout Professor Wood's Hair Restorative, and
my hair being quite gray, I made up my mind
Jo lay aside the prejudice which I, in com
mon with a great many persons, had against
all manner of patent medicines, and a short
time ago I commenced using your article, to
test it for rnvsclr.
The result has been so very satisfactory that
I am very glad I did so, and in justice to you,
as well as for the encouragement of others
who may be as grey as I was but who having
my prejudice without my reasons for selling
it aside, arc unwilling to give your Restora
tives a trial till they have lurlher proof, and
the best proof being occular demonstration,
I write this letter, which you may show to
any such, and also direct them to me for fur
ther proof, who am in and out ot the N. Y
Wire Hailing Establishment every day.
My hair is now its natural color and much
improved in appearance every way, being
glossier and thicker and much more healthy
looking. I am, Yours, respectfully,
HENRY JENKINS.
Cor. Columbia & Carroll tts. Brooklyn.

Prof. Wood Dear Sir: Your Hair Restor
ative has done much good in this part of the
country. My hair has been slightly dimin
ishing for several years, caused, I suppose,
jrom a slight burn when I was quite an in
fant. I have been using your Hair Retorn-
tive for six weeks and I lind that I have a
fine head of hair now growing, alter having
used all other remedies known, to no olTeci.
I think it the most valuable remedy now ex
tant, and arivise all who arc alllicted that way
to use your remedy. You can publish this if
you think proper, lours, &c.
S. W. MIDDLETON.
Philadelphia, Sept. 9, 1857.
Prof. Wood Dear Sir: Your Hair Restor
ative is proving itself beneficial to me. The
front, and also the back part of my head al
most lost its covering was in fact bald. 1
have used but 2 half pint bottles of your Re
storative, and now the top of my head is ucli
studded with a promising crop of young hair,
and ihe front is also receiiing its benefit. I
have tried other prepantltons without any
benefit whatever. I think from my own per
sonal recommendation, J -can induce many
others to try it. Yours, respectful!',

AIEE'S
PILLS.
FOR ALL THE PURPOSES OF A'
FAMILY. PHYSIC.
Thkuk has lone; existed a public demand for, an
effective purgative pill which could be relied on us
sure and perfectly safe in its operation. 1ms has
been prepared to meet that demand, and an exten
sive trial of its virtues has conclusively shown with
what success it accomplishes the purpose designed.
It is easy to make a physical pill, but not easy to
make the best of all pills one which shomd have
none of the objections, but all the advantages, of
every other, 'i'his has been .attempted here, and
tvitb wliat success we would respectfully submit to
the public decision. It has been unfortunate for
the patient hitherto that almost every purgative
medicine is acrimonious and irritating to the bow
els. This is not. Many of them produce sp much
griping pain and revulsion in the system as lo more
than counterbalance the good, to be derived from
them. These jrilh produce no irritation or pam,
unless it arise from a previously existing obstruc
tion or derangement in the bowels. Being purely
tcgctable, no' harm can arise from their as?3 in any
quantity ; but it is better that any medicine should
be taken judiciously. Minute directions for their
use in the several diseases to which they, arc ap
plicable are given on the box. Among the com
plaints whicli have been speedily cured by tnem, we
may mention Liver Complaint, in its various forms
of Jaundice, Indigestion, Languor and Los of Ap
petite, Listlcssncss, Irritability, Bilious Hoadacnc,
Bilious Fever, Fever and Ague, Fain in the Side
and Lqins ; for, in truth, all these arc but the con
sequence of diseased action in the liver. As an
aperient thev afford prompt and sure relief in Cos
tiveness, Piles, Colic, Dysentery, Humors, Scrof
ula and Scurvy, Colds with soreness of the body,
Ulcers and impurity of the blood ; in short, any
and every case where a purgative is required.
Thev have also produced some singularly suc
cessful cures in Rheumatism, Gout, Dropsy, Gravel,
Erysipelas, Palpitation of the Heart, Yams in the
Back, Stomach, and Side. They should he freely
taken in the spring of the year, to purify the blood
and prepare the system for the change of seasons.
An occasional dose stimulates the stomach and
bowels into hcalthv action, and restores the appe
tite and vigor. They purify the blood, and, by then
stimulant action on the circulatory system, reno
vate the strength of the body, and restore the
wasted or diseased energies of the whole organism.
Hence an occasional dose is advantageous, even
though no serious derangement exists ; but iu
necessary dosing should never be carried too far,
as every purgative medicine reduces the strength,
when taken to excess. The thousand cases in which
a physic is required cannot be enumerated here, but
they suggest themselves to the reason of every
body ; and it is confidently believed this pHl will
answer a better purpose than any thing which has
hitherto been available to mankind. When their
virtues arc once known, the public will no longer
doubt what remedy to employ when in need of a
cathartic medicine. Being sugar-wrapped they are
pleasant to take, and being purely vegetable, no
harm can arise from their use in any quantity.
For minute directions see wrapper on the Box.

This remedy has won for itself such notoriety
from its cures of every variety of pulmonary disease,
that it is entirely unnecessary to recount the evi
dences of its virtues in any community where it
nas been employed. So wide is the field of its use
fulness, and so numerous the cases of its cures
that almost every section of the country ahound
ji persons publicly known, who have beenrcstore 1
from alarming and even desperate diseases of ti i
lungs by its use. When once tried its superiori'y
over every other medicine of its kind is too app j
rent to escape observation, and where its virtues are
known, the public no longer hesitate what antidote
to employ for the distressing and dangerous affec
tions of the pulmonary organs which are incident
to our climate. And not only in formidable at
tacks upon the lungs, but for the milder varieties
of Colos, Coughs, Hoarseness, &c. ; and for
