ITER'S
PILLS.
FOR ALL THE PURPOSES OF A
FAMILY rilYSIC.
TiiKitr. has lung existed a public dfttlafld for an
sffective purgative pill which could be relied on us
.mc and perfectly safe in its operation. This has
)ccn prepared to incct that demand, and an cxtcn
tivc trial of its virtues h:vs conclusively shown with
.vhat success it accomplishes the nnqiosc designed,
tt is ensv to make a physical pill, but not easy to
nuke the best of all pill's one which should have
nine of the objections, but all the advantages, of
very other. This has been attempted here, and
vita what success we would respectfully submit to
the public decision. It has been unfortunate for
.he patient hitherto that almost every purgative
uedicinc is acrimonious and irritating to the bow
:1s. This is not. Many of thenvproduce so much
griping pain and revulsion in the system as to more
than counterbalance the good to be derived from
them. These pills produce no irritation or pain,
unless it arise from a previously existing obstruc
tion or derangement in the bowels. Being purely
vegetable, no harm can arise from their :isc m any
quantity ; but it is better that any medicine should
bo taken judiciously. Minute directions for their
use in the se eral "diseases to which they are ap
plicable arc given on the box. Among the com
plaints which have been speedily cured by them, we
may mention Liver Complaint, in its various forms
of Jaundice, Indigestion, Languor and Loss of Ap-
Sctitc, Listlcssncss, Irritability, Lilious Headache,
iilions Fever, Fever and Ague, Tain in the Side
and Loins ; for, in truth, all these arc but the con
sequence of diseased action in the liver. As an
aperient theV P""ril prompt and sure relief in Cos
tiveness, Piles, Colic, Dysentery, Humors, Scrof
ula and Scurvv, Colds with soreness of the body,
Ulcers and impurity of the blood ; in short, any
and everv case where a purgative is required.
Thcv have also produced some singularly suc
cessful cures in Rheumatism, Gout, Dropsy, Gravel,
Erysipelas, Palpitation of the Heart, Pains in the
Back, Stomach, and Side. They should be freely
taken in the spring of the year, to purify the blood
and prepare the system for the change of seasons.
An occasional dose stimulates the stomach and
bowels "to hcalthv action, and restores the appe
tite and vigor. They purify the blood, and, by then
stimulant action on the circulatory system, reno
vate the strength of the body, and restore the
wasted or diseased energies of the whole organism.
Hence an occasional dose is advantageous, even
though no serious derangement exists ; but un
necessary dosing should never be carried too far,
as everv purgative medicine reduces the strength,
when taken to excess. The thousand cases in which
a physic is required cannot be enumerated here, but
they" suggest themselves to the reason of every
body ; and it is confidently believed this pill will
answer a better purpose than any thing which has
hitherto been available to mankind. When their
virtues are once known, the uublic will no longer
doubt what remedy to employ when in need of a
cathartic medicine. Being sugar-wrapped they arc
pleasant to take, and being purely vegetable, no
harm can arise from their use m any quantity.
For minute directions see wrapper on the Lox.

ter time than a permanent cure can be effec
ted by any other treatment, even after the
disease has unfiled the skill of eminent phy
sicians and resisted all their means of cure
The medicines are pleasant without odor,
causing no sickness and free from mercury
or balsam. During twenty years of practice
I have rescued from the jaws of Death many
thousands, who, in the last stuges of the a
bove mentioned diseases had been giren up
to die by their ph sicians, which warrants
me in promising to the afllicted who may
place theniselyes under my care, a perfect
and most speedy cure. Secret diseases are
the greatest enemies to health, as they aie
the first cause of Consumption. Scrofula
and many other diseases, and should be a
terror to the human family. As a permanent
cure is scarcely ever elfected, a majority ot
the cases falling into the hands of incompe
tent persons, who not only fail to rure the
diseses but ruin the constitution, filling the
system with mercury, which, with the dis
ease, hastens the sufferer into a rapid Con
sumption But should the disease and the treatment
not cause death speedily and the victim
marries, the disease is entailed upon the
children, who are born with feeble constitu
tions, and the current of life corrupted by a
irus which betrays itself in Scrofula, Tet
ter, Ulcers, Eruptions and other affections
of the skin, Eyes, Throat and Lungs, en
tailing upon them a brief existence of sufTer
:ng and consigning them to an early grave
SELF ABUSE is another formidable en
emy to health, for nothing else in the dread
catalogue of human diseases causes so de
strurtiea drain upon the system, drawing
its thousands of victims through a few years
of stifTeiing down to an untimely grave. Ii
destroys the Nervous system, rapidly wastes
awav the energies of life, causes mental de
rangement, prevents the proper development-
of the system, disqualifies for marriage, so
cictv. business, and all earthly happiness,
and ieaves the sufTeier wrecked in body ami
mind, predisposed to consumption and a
i rain of evils more to he dreaded than death
itself. With the fullest confidence I assure
the tinfoitunate victims of Self Abuse that a
permanent and speedy cure can be effected,
and with the abandonment of ruinous prac
tices my patients can be restored to robust,
vigorous health.
The afllicted are cautioned against the
use of Patent Medicines, for there are so ma
ny ingenious snares in the columns of the
public prints to catch and tob the unwary
sufferers that millions have their constitu
tions ruined by the vile compounds of quick
doctors, or the equally poisonous nostrums
vended as "Patent Medicines.1 I have care
fully analyzed many of the so called Patent
Medicines and find that nearly all of them
contain Corrosive Sublimate, which is one of
'.he strongest preparations of mercurary and
a deadly poison, which instead of curing
the disease disables the system for life.
Three-fourths of the patent nostrums
now in use are put up by unprincipled and
ignorant persons, who do not understand e
ten the alphabet of the materia medica, and
are equally as destitute of any knowledge
of the human system, having one object on
ly in view, and that to make money regard
less of consequences.

IMPORTANT DISCOVERY
CONSUMPTION '
AND ALL
Diseases of (he Luniis and Throat,
ARE POSITIVELY
CURABLE BY INHALATIOHf,
Which conveys the remedies to ihe caviticd
in the lungs through the air passages, and
coming in direct contact with the disease
neutralizes the tubercular matter, allays tho
cough, causes a free and easy expectorationaf
heals the lungs, Durifies the blood, impart
renewed vitality to the nervous system, give
ing that tone and energy so indispensable for
the restoration of health. To be able to state
confidently that Consumption is curable be
inhalation, is to me a source of unalloyed
plea.sure. It is much under the control of
medical trca'ment as any other formidable
disease; ninety out of every hundred cases
can be cured in the first stages, and fifty per
cent, in the second; but in the third stage it
is impossible tos-ave more than five per cenf.
for the Lungs arc so cut up by the disease as
to bid defiance to medical skill. Even, how
ever, in the last stnges, Inhalation affords ex
traordinary relief to the suffering attending
this fearful scourge, which annually destroys
ninety-five thousand persons in the United
States alone; and a correct calculation shows
that of the present population of the earth,
eighty millions are destined to fill the con
sumptive's graves.
Truly the quiver of death has no arrow so
fatal as Consumption. In all ages it haa been
the great enemy of life, for it spares neither
age nor sex, but sweeps off alike the brave,
the beautiful, the graceful and the gifted. By
the help of that Supreme Being from whom
comet h every good and perfect gift, I am en
abled to ofier to the afllicted a permanent and
speedy cure in Consumption. The first cause
of tubercles is from impure blood, and the im
mediate effect produced by their deposition
in the lungs is to prevent the free admission
of air into the air cell!, which causes a wea
kened vitality through the entire system.
Then surely it is more rational to expect
greater good from medicines entering the
cavities of the luns than from those admin
islered through the stomach; the patient will
always find the lungs free and the breathing
easy, after Inhaling remedies. Thus, Infia
halation is a local remedy, nevertheless it acta
constitutionally, and with more power and
certainty than remedies administered by the
stomach. To prove the powerful and direct
influence of this mode of administration, chlo
roform inhaled will entirely destroy sensibil
ity in a few minutes, paralyzing the entire
nervous system, so that a limb may be ampu
tated without the slightest pain; inhaling the
ordinary burning gas will destroy life in a
few hours.
The inhalation of ammonia will rouse the
system when fainting or apparently dead.
The odor of many of the medicines is percep
tible in the skin a few minutes after being in
haled, and may be immediately detected it
the blood, A convincing proof of the consti
tutional effects of inhalation, is the fact that
sickness is always produced by breathing foul
air is not this positive evidence that proper
remedies, carefully prepared and judiciously
administered through the lungs should pro
duce the happiest results 1 During eighteen
years' practice, many thousands suffering
from diseases of the lungs and throat, have
been under my care, and I have effected many
remarkable cures, even after the sufferers
have been pronounced in the last stages,
which fully satisfies me that consumption is
no longer a fatal disease. My treatment of
consumption is original, and founded ou long
experience and a thorough investigation. My
perfect acquaintance with the nature of tuber
cles, &c., enables me to distinguish, readily"
the various forms ofdisease that simulate con"
sumption, and apply the proper remedies, rare"
lybeing mistaken even in a single case. This
familiarity, in connection with certain patho
logical and microscopic discoveries, enables
me to relieve the lungs from the effects of
contracted chests, to enlarge the chest, puri
fy the blood, impart to it renewed vitality,
jrivinjr ener'V and tone to the entire system.
Medicines with full directions sent to any
part of the United States ami Canadas by pa
tients communicating their symptoms by let
ter. But the cure would be more certain if
the patient should pay mc a visit, which
would give mc an opportunity to examine ther
lungs and enable me to prescribe with much'
greater certainty, and then the cure could be
effected without my seeing the patient again.
