County of Monroe, dee'd. will sell at pub

Thursday, flic 23d day of August,
inst., at 10 o'clock A. M. on the premises,
the following described property, viz:
A Farm situated in Stroud township,
Monroe county Pa., adjoining land of
John Ransbury, George llouck, Alexan
der Fowler and others, containing about
100 Acres,
about 75 acres cleared, enclosed with a
good fence, and in a high state of culti
vation, of which 20 acres are Meadow,
the balance is well timbered with Oak,
Chesnut and Hickory. There are about
20 acres of excellent meadow bottom yet

Broke jail on the night of the 24th
of July mst., four prisoners, named and
described as follows:
William Campbell, an Englishman, a
bout 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, full
face, fair skin; was confined on charge of
Murder, and is about 35 years or age
Patrick Cullen, an Irishman, about 5
feet 11 inches high, dark hair, dark skin,
-weighs about 175 or 180 pounds, about
30 years of age.
James Gorman, an Irishman, sandy
iair, red face about 5 feet, 7 inches high,
considerable freckled in the face, about
25 years of age.
Dennis McCarty, an Irishman, about 5
feet 9 inches high dark hair, spare face,
weight about 150 35 or 40 years of age.
These men were engaged working on
the Railroad, near the Forks, at the time
they were apprehended, and probably
pjay be found in that vicinity again.
25 will he paid to any person who will
apprehend cither of the said prisoners,
and return them to the jail of Monroe
county, or 100 for all of -them.

Jat burnt and for salo by the subscriber,
at hiskiln in Stroudsburg. These brick are
of a large size, superior quality and will be
Eold as low and lower, according to quality,
than any other brick in the County. A por
tion of them are pressed or front and cornice
brick of different kinds. Said brick are coin
nosed of materials that will stand the fire with
impunity, thus answering for the purpose of
building bqke-ovens, lining cupolas, ccc. Al
so, a large portion of those brick are burnt
hard and are well calculated for paving and
will stand for that purpose equal to any brick
that can be produced in this or any other
place.

BOROUGH ORDINANCE.
Be it enacted by the Chief Burgess
and Commom Council of the Borough of
Stroudsburg, and it is hereby enacted by

That Franklin Street be graded, paved
itu goou onoK, and curbed with stone
on both sides of said street, from Eliza
both street to Monroe street, and around
the public buildings on said street, by the
first day of August next. The same to
be done under the direction of the Town
Council, and according to the survey
as to height and width made by the
said Council.
And further, If any person or persons
owning property on said Iranklin street
neglect or refuse to have the same graded,
paved and curbed in pursuance of the a
bove enactment, within the time therein
specified, thesaid Council after the expira
tion of the said time, will have the same
done at the expense of said owners of prop
erty according to the act of Assembly, in
such case made and provided.
Be it enacted by the Chief Burgess and
Common Council of the Borough of
Stroudsburg, and it is hereby enacted by
the authority of the same,
lhat the south side of Elizabeth street,
from Jacob street to the lower end of the
ot now occupied by John Boys, be gra
ded, paved with good brick, and curbed
with stone on or before the first day of
September next. Ihe same to be done
under the direction of the Town Council,
and according to the survey as to
height and width made by the said Coun
oil.
And further, If any persons or persons
owning property on the south side of said
Elizabeth street, from said Jauob street
to the lower corner of said lot now occu
pied by John Boys, refuse to have the
ame graded, paved- and curbed in pur
uance of the above enactment, and with
in the time therein specified, the Town
Council, after the expiration of the said
time, will have the same done at the ex
pense of said property owners, according
to the Act ot Assembly, in such case made
and provided.
