time, John Hope, a boy about 17 or 18
years old, went to the church, and sent
a message m to ask a boy, named James
Hill, who was about the same age as him
self and with whom he had some boyish
difficulty, to come out and fight him. Hill,
immediately on receiving the message,
started and ran about twenty rods, and
dropped dead. Hope at once ran to Mr.
Plumer s, the gentleman with whose fam
ily he was living, gave Mrs. Plumer the
knife, telling her at the same time what
he had done. Hope was arrested and is wood
now in jail awaiting trial
