MONDAY. June 13, tale.
Dispatches from Chicago to-day report rain
and wheat down, and as the advance was es
tablished In consequence of a supposed
drouth. we presume that the decline to-day
was owing to the ruin. There seem. to bare
been considerable rain all over the country
within the past two weeks, and it is not
likely. therefore, that we will hear any more
complaint soon in regard to drouth. Already
In some sections the reports are thatrthere
has been too much rain, that the grain is
knocked down, and unless dry weather sets
In; is likely to be considerably damaged; from
all that we Can learn, however. the prospects
are all that Could be desired or expected. and
while it is probable that there has been too,
math rain in some sections and not enough In
other., the Indications at present. are that
there will be an average crop of all the small
fral.r, and those who have been operating
with 'an eye to big prices are likely to be dis
appointed. It is worthy of. remark, however•
that there is nearly always a "flurry" in the
grain and Dour markets at this season of the
year, brought about by the operation. and ma
nipulations of prominent spehulatoni who re
sort to all kinds of strategy to make their
point, and there Is no time so , well suited for
their purpose as a few weeks before harvest,
the most critical season through which the
growing crape have to pass. being exposed to
rain and drouth. weevil fly, ect...etc.

the whole number on sale 770 trends This in
the absence of eastenibuyers, was fully - up to

particularly for common cattle of which the

this kind was in excess of the demand. There
was a sexy large mount of green, slippery
stock, fresh from the pasture held• which the
the butchers say -kill very battly and they
would rather pay acent or two per pound

this green slippery stock will not bring any

As will be noted by reference to the receipts
Of cattle, It will be seen that of the nearly ma

Chicago;- however. as prices are relatively
higher there than here, and, besides, it lb to
be expected that the number from that point
