two bead. Notwithstandthr the unusually
heavy receipts, the market up until to-day
ruled strong and with n gOOl.l attend:tore of
buyers, the demand seemed to be fully equal
to the supply. and, consequently. prices. Were
well sustained. To-day. however, the feeling
on the part of buyers seemed to be a little
most, of whom had bought all they
wanted, and with an apprehension that the
eastern markets are likely to be glutted next
week. the tendency was downward and the
market dull. There has been an expectation
on the part of stock men forsotue time past
that there Is likely to be a reaction soon. and
the fact that the shipments front this place
have been unusually large this week. created
en impression that this reaction it likely to
set In next week. The great proportion of
the cattle were taken by Philadelphia buyers
this week. some GS or lb ear loads, and the
only way we can account for this Is that they
paid bigger prices than the New Yorkers
could stand; for, several mouths New-Yorkers
have been taking most of the cattle' here, but
this week, as already Intimated. the tables
were turned and the New_ York men were
