Bishop Jackson Kemper. of Wisconsin, took

'ward Mamas, the Fenian Read Centre. bas

effort by the remaining nnsoners.. Captain
Harlow, commanding the rink guard Ouse,
states that the first man who moves beyond
the sentry lines trill be shot down mercilessly
by the guard. The escape of Mannix iwas
daring and well conceived. The prisoners
_were being removed from the upper story of
the guard house to the small compartment at
the lower end under guard, and as soon at
the sentry turned his back- Manilla jumped'
through a window Into tile saw pit a distance
af fifteen feet, and through the connivance of
the outside sentry escaped. The correspond
ent of the Irerld wit reseed the affair and saw
Maunix Jump into the wagonand disappear.
The efforts of the Marshal and the troops to
re-capture hint bare been fruitless. .
