that operators are timid about doing any

stock than they can avoid. Some of our grain
- merchants have been buying In the west and
'hipping through to the eastern markets, the
policy of the Pennsylvanin Railroad Company
preventing them from shipping here, and then
to the east, by refusing to prolate on any
thing bought beyond the limits of certain
boundary lines. We admit that this Company
has {node some concessioni In favor of-Pitts
burgh within the past year, but there an yet
some very serious disadvantages In conse
quence of the unfair course of this corpora
tion, and there is no probability of relief.

mand for metal or any advance In prices, for
such Is not the case; but the Impression it
catalog strength that the wont Is over, that
the bottom has been touched. and, compared
with last week, there has been more Inquiry,
and a larger volume of business In the eggre
gat e. Manufacturers still insist that crude

tured. and that as there is not much chance to
advance-Ile latter. there should he a mill
further decline In the former.
