REVIEW IVOR THE WEEK.
The oil market during the first part of
tho week' was quiet; end, neglected, and
priors were barely maintained; since
then, however, a stronger - feeling hass
prevailed, particularly In refined; and
with a brisk inquiry and larger sales,
prima have advanced fully half a cent.
Crude, under the Influence of big strikes,
dropped y to y , a cent during Wednes
day and Thursday; on Friday, the feel
ing wm stronger, while to-day an ad
vauce of a y‘ was established; the mar
ket closing steady at the advance, though
there aro some who are Impressed with
the belief that the advance cannot be
maintained in the face or an Increased
production. There is no question, how
ever, but what the market le much
stronger, both crude and refined, while
at the same time It Is generally conceded
that the nroduetlon is Increasing, and is
