The money market ie gradually work
ing °baser, although money limit scarce,
but the rates asked are higher In andel
pinitm'of an urgent demand for money
fur April aettlements. Most of our
banks and discount houses supply their
regular customers at forim r rates but
outside paper has to aubmit to a higher
Meat interest. In geld there Is more
demand in anticipation of a hignar
• premintri for the next 60 days, but the'
uncertalnity of the fate of the funding
bill gives the market no decided ten•
dopey. The demabd from importers Is
'limited yet, but the higher rate of 'ex.
ctaage and prime paper is likely to
create a demand for earth gold. It is re.
ported that the exports of specie for the
past week have been larger than arly
previous week, but It is also asserted
that several lots 'of specie aro coming
from Europe. Should any large lots ar
rive, a break in gold to about 110 would
be the result.
Governments remain dull and heavYt
with the exception of 1562 e, which ad
vanced to-day again about X per cent.
New tends are dull.
Stocks area little firmer, but the gen
eral tendency is towards lower. quota
tions.

to light this afternoon. An individual,
by name Hart, on Saturday entered the

sold at 55% to 85%. Hart stated the
