?be Great Closing-Oat 'Sale of Fine
Fun at Wm. Flennog 44 Co.',, Be.
ginnind Monday Next, January •Mtb,
to Continue One Weed.
We trust that our lady readers and all
others interested in the purchase of fano
will not forget that on Monday next the
Great Representative Fur and Hat
House of Wm.. F . 'lliming & Cu:, 139 Wood
street, will co ence to sell out their
entire stock of hue at any price that they
will bring. The isle will commence at
9 o'clock s. IC; and continue every day,
until 13,4 o'clock r. x., except Saturdays,
when they will keep open till 103 Q
o'clock, in order .to give an opportunity
of vialting the store to those -who cannot
attend earlier in the day. We have ex. '
stained the stock to be sold off. and can
assure our readersthat It is very fine, the
assortment being large and the articles
of a superior quaUty and stylish and ele
gant make. Tne goods are being marked
down to a price that we did not think it
possible they could be sold for; but it is
!well known that Fleming & Co. do not
carry any of this kind of stock over to
the next season, and all their furs will
positively be sold at whatever' they will
bring. It would seem to as the part of
wisdom for thew who can possibly spare
the money, to go and seems a bargain In
ladies' furs. They wilt be needed before
this winter Is over, and they will beirist
as good for the next and succeedingwin
kers, and will only cost half the money if
purchased at Fleming's next week, that
they would if bought next season, or In
some other establishment. The goods
ate all warranted, and no mlarepresenta.
tions are ever allowed to be made at this
haute. Call, therefore, early next week
and examine for yourselves-

Tee Notional Pipe Works
The foreman Mr. John Aston, and hie
assistant Mr. James F. Allen, of the
National Foundry and Pipe Works, of
this city, have Just returned from the
east alter quite an extended visit among
the various extensive pipe works located
there. They report that the National
Foundry and Pipe . Works are as far
ahead of the eastern works In the manu
facture of pipes, as they were ahead of
Pittsburgh In that branch of the foundry
trade before the National established
hem-which speakitdg for the energy
and perseverance of Mr. (Maui Smith,
tho worthy proprietor of these extensive
works. As an Instance, it-took oneof the
largest of the eastern pipe works from
seven (7) s. M. until one (I) o'clock in
the afternoon to cut fifteen (LS) tons of
pipe, while every day they cast out of
one cupola at the works here, from forty
to fifty tons of pipe between the home of
six. (0) and ten (10) o'clock In the morn
ing.
The capacity of the National foundry
and Pipe Works is one hundred tOOl per
day. Nearly all of the eastern pipe men
are corresponding' with Mr. Smith for
the purchase of the very valuable patents
he has on the manner of making pipes.
The Salad of Public Work, of Chicago
were served last year by Mews. R. D.
Wood ec Co. and the Warren Foundry
Co. of the last, and Mr. Smith of this
city, but they very willingly acknowl
edged that the beat pipes they had ever
laid In that city came from Mr. Smith.
This is only one of the very many testi
umiak' of a similar character Mr. Smith
received • from his °customers last year.
