The change In the weather, has bad •
very perceptible influence. on the crude
market, we can attribute it to nothing
else. The thermometer is an 'excellent
guide in regard to the course of the mar
ket, at least it has been ao recently;
when the mercury goes up, which is
always regarded as an excellent indica
tion of rain thin season of the - year, the
price immediately goat down, and visa
versa. Whenever the weather is warm
with rain, the shone are very independ
ent and don't want to buy, but whenever
It turns in sold, they begin to feel like
cov.ring up and they usually remain In
this state of mind until the weather
changes, again, when they immediately
resume their former independence.
Soberly. there Is more in this than the
public have any Ides of; and for proof, it
le only necessary to refer back during
the rant month. When the weather has
changed either way, there has been •
change in the price of oil; whenever the
indications were favorable for a resump
tion of navigation, the crude market has
weakened and declined; while, on the
other hand, when the indications fa.
vored a freeze-op, the market :would
immediately grow stronger. This ac
counts, mainly for the rapid changes In
price during the time above mentioned,
as the weather has been unusually tickle
and changeable.

The supply was unusually light Ulla

The sheep:market was rather heavy
during the first two or three days of
this week, but yesterday buyers, gen
erally, pitched In and cleared the pone.
As a consequence. the market was much
firmer today, and all that were on sale
sold readily and that, too, at an ad
vance of II" to of a cent per pound.
We quote at 3 Le .5% for' scalawags to
prime shipping sheep, and for these
grades the quotations just named may
be cousidered . as the attremos. There
were but few on sale this Morning, and
It was thought the arrivals during the
balausoo of the week would be. Ilght, as
many western_openttora .would remain
at home for Christmas.
We alluded in our lut ropers to a
very dne drove of sheep, the lineal, per.
hapa, ever offered in this market. C.
M. Hagar, of New York, bought hi
head averaging one hundred and eighty
two pounda. at a!,i, and 79 averaging 131,
at an average of about BHe for the whole
130 bead. Mr. Hagar is an admirer of
line stock.
Hedges & Taylor sold a very good
drove, averaging 11.1535 lbs; to Pierce, at
Adcock Jk. Eckman report having
bought 20 car loads during the week,
for shipment to New York, at prices
ranging from 3 to sth.
