One Mr. T. C. O'Biuser addresses a
letter to the New York Tribune in which
the views and purposes of the Catholic
Church on the question of the Common
Schools is more clearly and squarely wet
forth than to any document wehaveseen.
Whether the writer be' a clergyman or a

Tax Board of Managers of the Nation
al Soldiers' Home took care of four thou
sand disabled soldiers during the last
year, nearly one-half of whom were at
the Central Asylum. near Dayton, Ohio.
This distribution seems to have been a
popular one from the beginning, soldiers

to go there, and yet the expense of sop
porting the men there has all along been
less than at either of the other asylums.
